Election 2013

With only three days left until the 2013 Senatorial Elections, supporters of each candidate are all going all out. It's too bad for me, though, because I came up short with my age (17). There are 30 (not sure about that) candidates for the 12 open senatorial slots. Among these 30 are the ever famous veterans and favorites- Chiz Escudero, Loren Legarda, Gringo Honasan and current Red Cross secretary Richard Gordon. And we also have new faces running for senators such as the Vice President's daughter Nancy Binay, Cynthia Villar, Grace Poe and Benigno 'BAM' Aquino. I have doubts with these new faces though because of the continuous usage of their Family name thus continuing a political dynasty. Elections nowadays mostly focus on fame and fortune. Let's say the vast majority of people's votes are based on 60% Fame and Name, and 40% objectives.

National positions aside, let's focus on our town of Castillejos and the municipal elections. The town needs a mayor, a vice mayor and 8 municipal councilors.
Campaign started over a month ago with only 2 parties fighting for position. And while the candidates aren't literally fighting physically, one of the parties do so verbally.
One of the candidates for mayor is a woman on her late 50's or early 60's. She was the former mayor of the town and all this "genius" say during her speeches are degrading insults toward the other party.

WHEN YOU GIVE A CAMPAIGN SPEECH, RAISE YOURSELF AND DON'T DEGRADE OTHERS.

I can;t believe that someone like her actually had a Doctorate degree in the University of the Philippines. Sometimes you lie to yourself so much that you think it's the governing truth, well not really. Seriously female candidate, if you have a brain then use it to your advantage and not to think about wild false insults.

Then we also have the male candidate who also happens to be the current mayor and my uncle from the mother's side. Of course, I remain loyal to him despite still being a minor. And that's also my reason for not keeping a neutral side in the upcoming elections.
During my uncle's campaigns, I do believe with my ears that I haven't heard a single degrading word coming from him and pointing towards the other party. If anything, he just cleanse his name every time the other party throws the mud of insults at him. My uncle and his party remains strong with their platforms and objectives.

Only less than three days left until the 2013 Elections here in the Philippines. I'm pretty sure that if the public people's hearts are pounding then maybe the candidates who stay "TRUE AND HONEST" hearts' are pounding threefold. Good Luck to everyone (but mostly to those candidates whose objectives are to serve the people and not their dining table.
