First of all, I apologize for posting my entry for May 13 so late. Despite me not being a voter, it was still a busy day for me.
My relatives, mother and sister went to their respective precincts to vote for the politicians that they support in their respective positions. The whole process of voting almost took them 4 hours, the main reason being a very, very long line. When they returned from voting, my sister, three of my cousins and uncle went to Olongapo. Our uncle dropped us off at Harbor Point except my youngest cousin. We watched Evil Dead, which was rated R 18, meaning that viewers under 18 years of age are not allowed. One of my two cousins and I were able to get through despite our age being 16 and 17 respectively.
Evil Dead was sort of a reboot to the original series way back in the 80's by renowned director, Sam Raimi.
This 2013 reboot served as a good update to the film series as, unlike the original series, this one was more bloody and thrilling. I won't write too much about Evil Dead right now, maybe I'll write a review about this later.
We got home around 5:40 pm. We ate cake and ice cream while celebrating my sister's birthday.
Around 7:30 in the evening, things started to get a little intense because 7 o'clock was the official start of counting the ballots.
My mom went to my uncle's HQ to check up on their party's condition, and around 11:30, my cousin and I followed. When we arrived, we got the good news,
our uncle won, for his 2nd term, as Mayor of the town. He had 2793 vote lead.
The vice mayor wasn't from my uncle's party so the celebration was cut short.
And out of the 8 councilors in his party, only 3 got in and 5 from the opposing party.
In the provincial level, the person who won the position of Governor was Jun Ebdane
and for Congressman was Khonghun.
The Senatorial race is still ongoing but here is the current data that I've found in http://election-results.rappler.com/2013/
The lineup of senators is led by newcomer Grace Poe, daughter of former action star and president candidate Fernando Poe Jr.
the other 11 are the ff.
Legarda, Loren
Escudero, Chiz
Cayetano, Alan Peter
Binay, Nancy (new comer, daughter of the current vice president of the Philippines, Jejomar Binay)
Angara, Edgardo
Aquino, Benigno BAM (new comer, obviously related to the political DYNASTY of the Aquino's)
Pimentel, Koko
Trillanes, Antonio
Villar, Cynthia (new comer, wife of senator Manny Villar)
Ejercito Estrada, JV
Honasan, Gringo
according to my mom, the final result of the senatorial lineup will still take some time, but since the PCOS machine was used, maybe the time will be cut short than what most people would expect. Still my reaction to this election in terms of the national level isn't so good. To be honest, in my opinion so forgive me if this offends you,
I have doubts with the new comers in the current senatorial lineup shown above.
Grace, Nancy, Cynthia and BAM I don't really see them as good senators, at least not as good as the veterans.
That's it for today. I'll try to keep myself updated in the following days.
