It's a solid OTP, finally they can mind RUBY X WEISS |
I'm pretty sure a lot of RWBY fans think that Jaune is that kind of normal looking character with average skills in combat and then suddenly turn badass at some part in the series.
Episode 14 finally got us a glimpse of that, although not entirely.
Finally standing up to the torments of Cardin and his team, Jaune took a beating but he didn't seem to care at all. Ruby's words from the last episode must've changed his perspective of being an individual and being a leader of a team.
In the episode, Jaune also seemed to have used his aura to defend himself from an incoming jab from Cardin, but couldn't defend himself from the following attacks. Thanks to the tree sap that he threw at Cardin, though, an Ursa saves the day!!
So it appears that these red sap could be tasty honey to Ursas in the universe of RWBY, anyway Cardin really appeared useless as the Ursa attacked him. And who'll save the day? None other than the underdog - Jaune.
While he acted cool and all defending Cardin and standing up to the Ursa, Jaune was incapable of defeating the Grimm all by himself. Shield and sword in hand, he just kept charging with not a perfect strategy in mind.
If it wasn't for Pyrrha's intervention at the moment where Jaune and the Ursa clashed, they wouldn't be walking out with a beheaded Ursa behind them.
So finally (I sure damn hope so) Cardin begins to respect Jaune, and Jaune finally accepts his own weaknesses and begins to understand what it's like to help each other.
I could say Jaune's arc (pun intended) ended nicely. I'm beginning to wonder who's going to be the main focus of the next arc. Judging from the location of where Jaune's arc ended - Forever Fall forest - I think Blake wouldn't be a far of choice for the next arc.
Why? Doesn't the place in her trailer resembles Forever Fall quite accurately?
