Aside from the Napoles Hearing held the other day the country is pressed by another catastrophe in the form of typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan, internationally). While Napoles' case isn't exactly physically devastating as the storm, it does spark more controversy (and draws more entertainment) than the typhoon.
The regions directly affected by the typhoon are those in Visayas and Southern Luzon. Even here in Zambales (region III) the winds that pass by are strong enough to make the dance of the trees into bow of the trees.
The last time our region felt winds as strong as these were two years ago around August (not too sure), around that time one of my great-grandmother's home-grown trees was devastated by the gust of winds alone.
We're lucky that the only thing strong right now in our region, as the storm passes through the country, are the wind. It occasionally rains but not as strong as during July-August period.
