Somehow there's always that little part of me that can't let go of an ending year. 2013 was a year of a lot of new experiences and challenges that put my headache tolerance to the limit. But it was only because of those challenging times when I appreciated the good times even more.
January
The year started off in full academic mode but this didn't prevent me from watching anime still. The first series I watched this year was Higurashi no Naku Koro ni and its continuation Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai, both on the top of my best anime this year.
I also worked on my removal exam in ENGLISH 1 on the first and second week back to school. I took the exam with a little overtime and managed to pass it, although with my abilities alone I wonder or if it was partially by mercy of my instructor. I finally cleared my grade of 4 and received a grade of 3.
We were also bombarded with upcoming exams since which left me reeling because of back to school blues and hangover from the past vacation. Thankfully I survived without curling up under my bed covered by a blanket.
The pilgrim relics of St. Therese of the Child Jesus visited the university in late January until early February.
February
The month of hearts was finally upon us along with my first Feb. Fair in the university. It was a special week long celebration that was more active during the evening. I was only partially distracted by these events because, well, I know how Valentine's day would turn out. Just the same as the other months alone and unwanted (this doesn't include family and relatives of course).
I went to the Feb. Fair twice. One alone and the other with my mom. My mom also fulfilled one of her long time dreams in the fair - Rock Climbing.
Aside from the Feb. Fair, I also treated my mom and myself to Harmonya's wonderful concert. I look forward to it again this year.
March
Ah finally, the long awaited final month of the semester. The remaining days of the semester was a difficult challenge for most of us. Projects, finals, grades everything was a fearful part nearing to the end of the semester and the days just keep getting longer. However, when I thought I've finished everything, my semester extended to the second week of April because I needed to take final exams.
I spent one of the loneliest nights and weekend I've ever had all year because of one final project that sent me to submission.
After the project presentation though, it was one of the euphoric afternoons of the year. That afternoon I cured my academic headache by watching anime. It's all thanks to my mom for being there during that fearful weekend.
The first days of my vacation before I returned for the removal exams was jam packed with activities. First there was the Holy Week then outings conducted by my relatives. My aunt and uncle from abroad returned after about a year and a half to pay respects to my uncle's father who passed away.
After March, my mom and I returned to Los Banos for a short four days so that I could take the final exams of two of my subjects.
April
I began April with a hassle in academics again but only for four short days. After the two exams on the same day, one in the morning and the other in the afternoon, mom and I went to SM Calamba the following day. My mom bought me an early birthday present in the form of a PSP 3000.
We were picked up by our relatives the following day to spend the afternoon on a pool-for-rent private area several miles beyond the university.
Mid-April was Ozine Fest 2013 and I cosplayed my latest character to date V from V for Vendetta. It was an extremely fun event and it was an absolute lightning strike in my wallet.
My mom also celebrated her birthday in a restaurant I for one would not recommend because of the service and the menu. My nephew also had his first time riding the animal kiddy rides at Time Zone. The expression he wore in his face was actually blank, might be because of a strange new experience.
May
The most awaited month for politicians. May 2013 was the Senatorial elections. It was too bad that I still couldn't vote because I was a year younger than the voting age. Still with the current state of the country I'm not even mad that I didn't participate in the slow demise of this country due to the Public vs. Government clashes.
The election took place on May 13, same day as my sister's birthday.
My uncle also ran for his second term as mayor in our hometown. It was a thrilling ride for us but thankfully he kept his seat for the second time. All those campaigns paid off and I'm glad that the people are starting to realize that my uncle is more than capable of being a great leader.
May is also the birthmonth of this blog. Since then it had undergone so many renovations that didn't actually give much improvement and appeal.
I also met the lovely, beautiful and caring Sami this month.
June-September
I'm clumping these months together because my first semester this year has been pretty much covered on detail in previous posts of my blog.
I turn into a sophomore this month and it wasn't anything easier. Acads just kept getting harder. At first, it was a riddle to me how I can balance my physicall challenging PE 2 Run class with my other mentally harder subjects. I came to like Running even but I couldn't run as much as during classes because of time constraints.
My nephew celebrated his first birthday, I was't able to attend because, again, of time constraints. Their celebration was fun even if I wasn't there. Hopefully I'd be part of it next year.
The hard subjects this semester were Statistics and CMSC 21. (I still have yet to take the removal exam for my Statistics).
October
Our instructor in PE 2 proved that with proper training even an overweight person like me can survive a 10 km run without exhausting all my energy. It took me an hour and 21 minutes to reach the goal, just one minute more than the set time for us to get a grade of 1.0. Still, I regret nothing.
Just a week after the 10 km practicum for our PE 2 Run class, mom and I attended Cosplay Mania 2013 which was dominated by Shingeki no Kyojin cosplayers. It was another enjoyable cosplay event that mom and I participated in.

October also marked the end of the first semester. I was able to survive, thankfully, but I still have Statistics to worry about.
We were given about three weeks of vacation before starting the second semester again.
November
This month is probably the shortest month this year. The second semester started November 10 and after a month we were given another vacation because of the Christmas holidays which started December 13.
November, even if it was actually short, served as a very long preview of the hardships to come when classes resume next year. Computer Science is a really difficult course and I'm beginning to wonder if I can survive. Each day that is my question but one of my instructors said that the key to surviving is to focus on learning and not on passing.
December
And so the year ends but December was actually a long month despite my vacation appearing to be too short.
I came home a week earlier because my great-grandmother passed away unexpectedly. She just celebrated her birthday last November 18 and we all hoped that she'd reach more than a hundred years of age. But perhaps her death was another chapter of her life because I believe she lived a wonderful and fulfilling life.
I received another early present from my mom, a Nintendo 3DS and a copy of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D and Pokemon X.
The last week of classes before the holidays turned to be one of the worst weeks I had in terms of health conditions. Doctors say it was a spreading disease in the air and I caught it. I endured a heavy fever and headache which lasted for more or less three days and a tonsillitis as well as bruises all over my body which stayed several weeks after vacation started.
I powered through my 3DS games posting progress reports each day until I grew tired of it. Right now I'm just focusing on the games and maybe small reports on my current progress.
So far I've completed two games and I still have to complete 4 games.
I've so far survived awkward family gatherings and parties that passed. And now it's new years eve.
Yesterday I also finished watching Kyoukai no Kanata, probably the last anime I watch before the year ends.
Tomorrow I'll be continuing Haibane Renmei and Game of Thrones.
I, sadly, failed to complete the 1000 paper cranes stopping at 328. Even if I were to start now 5 hours wouldn't be enough to fold the remaining 72 and string them all together.
Well then, it has been a wonderful year. Everyone...HAPPY NEW YEAR AND Y'ALL HAVE FUN!!
