Progress Report: Pokemon X part 5

I've decided to stop making reports about my Mario titles because, well, I'm sure that none of you are willing to hear my despair every time I fall onto the bottomless pit and that "waaaaaaahahahahaaaaaaa" screams of either Mario or Luigi. That said, I'll just keep track of Pokemon X, Kid Icarus: Uprising and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D.

Pokemon X part 5:

Let's start again with my arrival at Shalour City.
The city itself wasn't that big but the Tower of Mastery is big enough as a town itself if it wasn't for its shallow interior.
I left the city for a while and went to Cyllage city and back leveling up my party. I withdrew my Eevee for a while and decided on evolving him to a Sylveon.
On my quest to gain experience, most of my party pokemons evolved before and during the time I challenged Korrina and her gym for the rumble badge.

My Essere (Espurr) evolved to a Meowstic outside Cyllage city, and damn she is adorable! My Sherry (Wartortle) evolved next after my battle with Calem at the Tower of Mastery. The doubt that I had in the strength of my party was dissolved because of the complete dominance (or probably just overpowered) they displayed against Calem's pokemon. I was all excited at the thought of finally being able to use the
Blastoisinite and the Mega Ring to mega evolve my Blastoise, however Korrina wanted me to fight her first as a gym leader.

Korrina's gym specializes in fighting-type pokemons which are all usually weak against psychic-type pokemons. My Meowstic and Braixen blasted through her gym like Sozin's comet and we earned the Rumble badge no sweat.

Back then in the previous generations, I can't imagine fighting the same gym leader twice but this generation of Pokemon will never be the same I suppose. After my battle with Korrina, she again challenged me at the top of the Tower of Mastery. What's more it's not about my Pokemon vs. Korrina's, one of her two Lucarios teams up with the player and it's practically a dangerous brawl of mega evolved Lucarios. Only this time it's not an all out kind of battle, it's actually more of an event battle really. A scripted match that should really be won by the player. Still, that battle marks the first time I ever used mega evolution so it's all epic. I just didn't imagine the player to make such mahou shoujo poses like summoning her familiar in battle.

Korrina and the player's conversation after the battle counts as another dramatic encounter in the game. But since I picked the female gender, the in-game implied romance with Korrina (and even Shauna) had a different feel than the normal, conventional romance. I'm actually proud that I'm adding spice to the story by changing the normal romance into a yuri. Of course, the romance with Calem is also thee but not as explicitly shown as with Shauna and Korrina. Romance aside...I.GOT.A.FU*KING.LUCARIO!!!!!

So far Korrina is my favorite NPC in game. Not only is she cute and hyper outside and inside the battle as a gym leader, her serious side as a Successor shows just how great a character she is.

My next pokemons to evolve near the Kalos power plant (route 13) were Holt (Braixen) and Ada (Eevee). Evolving an Eevee to a Sylveon wasn't as difficult as what poke' forums would often suggest. Just spending a little time and laying games with Eevee at Pokemon-amie and making sure he has at least one Fairy move then we're all good to go (Eevee needs at least a level 2 affection).
I still need to power up my Sylveon if I need to get through that dragon trainer in the elite four. My Holt (Braixen) evolved to a Delphox (unexpectedly at that) via Exp. Share.

Well then that's all for now!
