Return Journey + Progress Report: Super Mario 3D Land part 3, Pokemon X part 2; New Game part 1

I'm finally back after yesterday's fun trip back home, and yes I'm still plagued with tonsillitis.

The last stop we made yesterday in Manila was at SM Megamall. There we ate at Chuck's Grub. Their menu was limited to a few species of fish, shrimp and crab but how they cook those faunas took the cake. Their dishes are delicious!

After dinner, we went to Dell service center all the way up at the Cyber Zone. After more than a month of separation my Dell, Rozalin, is finally healed to full health (In fact, I'm using her right now).
Last on my plans for the day was at Data Blitz.
The Megamall branch of Data Blitz had more games than the Harbor Point Branch. But even with a wider selection it doesn't equal to more good and great games. As I was browsing for  new title to add to my collection another Mario title caught my eyes - New Super Mario Bros. 2.

I've already played the first NSMB. It was the first game I played upon receiving my Nintendo DS lite, along with Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin. Now I got my hands on the sequel.
But first, progress reports:

Super Mario 3D Land part 3:

Take note, I didn't achieve all these in one play through but since I'm only updating my blog now I think it's best to include the whole progress in one entry.

World 5 to 7 were, as the previous worlds, smartly crafted yada yada actually even with the entertainment included in these worlds, the low level of challenge was getting old. Then came World 8, finally I got to face with Bowser not once but twice in a thrilling cat and mouse chase while dodging fireballs and keep

ing up with the falling blocks.

I managed to save Princess Peach after more than 5 deaths, and mostly because of that golden leaf. Now I'm on my way to save Luigi on the special worlds that are indeed more challenging. I won't be focusing too much on 3D Land from now since I still have 3 other titles to focus on.

Pokemon X part 2:

The long awaited part 2 of my Pokemon journey in the Kalos region continues, but first I had to update the software so that the rumored Lumiose city bug gets rid off.

I obtained the roller skates from the skater girl near the first gym. I suppose, after the first gym, picking Fennekin was a good choice. Those bugs didn't knew what hit them. The gym leader, Viola, was really graceful in comparison to the arrogant gym leaders from other regions. Again I praise the significant improvement of character illustrations.

I trained my Pokemon at the route near the Pokemon League. While battling with the trainers there, my Holt (Fennekin) evolved to a Braixen. I don't know what the people at Game Freak were thinking when they came up with Braixen's design but my little friend in the Pokemon world really looks like a trap! That black fur on his legs resemble black tights, his waist fur looks like a skirt and even his face is too foxxy to be male! Well, I do plan to catch a Ralts if it's present in the region so I don't really mind a trap for a pokemon. A female Fennekin would've been a whole lot better though, also a female Ralts would be nice.

I took my time at route 4 before proceeding to Lumiose city. I received the Exp. Share from Viola's elder sister. I couldn't figure out what off meant at the key items menu. Turns out the Exp. Share works for all the pokemon in the party, and it's no longer a pokemon hold item.

After collecting the scattered items and battling the trainers in the area, I went on to Lumiose guided by two trainers who seem to be my seniors when it comes to being Prof. Sycamore's apprentices.
Professor Sycamore's research laboratory is a little exaggerated. I'm assuming he's the youngest among all the previous professors from past generations so that's a valid excuse for him to get the big toys.

The battle with him at his lab surprised me not because he's surprisingly weak, but the game offered the player another chance to pick a starter pokemon. Two starters in one game, Game Freak you guys are awesome! You just didn't remodel the whole Pokemon world, you did a major revamp on all known formulas and concept, just what the heck are you guys cooking for us next!? (Gen III remake, Gen III remake please).

This time I stayed with tradition and picked Squirtle. I would've picked Charmander but I don't need two pokemons of the same type on my party.

On a side note, I unwittingly changed the color of my character's hair to black. I learned the hard way that there's no preview in changing the hair of the player. So I automatically lost 1500 something poke' dollars just by coloring my Sami's hair black.

Here's a list of all my current pokemons:

Holt (Braixen)
Mizukey (Panpour) - currently stored
Sherry (Squirtle)
Makoto (Pikachu)
Chirp (Fletchling)

and here are explanations on the names I gave them:

Holt = Hot + Molt
Mizukey = Mizu (water) + Monkey
Sherry = Since my Squirtle is a female and Shelly is too common, I replaced the L's with R's
Chirp = ...he's a bird, so chirp damnit
Makoto = from To Aru's Mikoto Misaka changed Mikoto to Makoto and it still sounds like a female name

New Super Mario Bros. 2 part 1:

Porgress in this game will take much longer compared to 3D land. The Worlds are longer and the sudden gold rush route the game took was a surprise. It seems Wario had spread his contagious money loving sickness in the Mushroo
m kingdom.

Only progress that I can remember right now is that I'm in World 2 now and that one Haunted House level where that giant abnormal Boo keeps breaking the rules about being shy when Mario's looking.

That's all for now!
