UPLB February Fair 2014

Well guess what after two weeks I finally found the motivation (or just forced obligation) to post something about the UPLB February Fair held two week ago from February 11 to 15.

I attended the fair twice, one on the evening of independence day (feb. 14) and the day after with my mom.

There were only a few people during the 15th compared to the day before. The area was also cleared from any blockades by a stupid car show held at an inconvenient spot. A lot of the open booths during the 14th were closed that night mainly because it's Saturday and no one wants to socialize that badly during Saturday. The FREE COFFEE near the entrance of the F-Park was still active serving the ever so tasty kapeng barako and a talk about their religion (which is what I consider to be a feint attack seeing as FREE COFFEE doesn't exactly translate to a lecture about religion.).
After the FREE COFFEE booth, we proceeded to cover the whole fair maybe twice while searching for food. Our main objective in the food stalls was to find a takoyaki stand. Since the takoyaki king outside of the university seemed to have gone back to fish more octopus, I haven't been able to eat takoyaki for months.
There were several booths selling takoyaki, but regardless of which stall we bought from, mom and I got four pieces each and they were still hot to goodness it pleased my taste buds.
As a final treat for the food trip, we also found a stall selling chicken skin. CHICKEN SKIN damnit! It's chicken without the meat, only the skin and damn it tasted fine despite the threat of high blood pressure.

After the food stalls which decorated the side of the Freedom Park we, then, went to another side of the park which faced the lower field.
Oh yeah, the lower field was livelier today compared to last year. There were lots of people spending a romantic, or just a generally fun evening running around playing with advanced glow sticks. Some are even inside camping tents doing...oh what could they be doing. Playing Pokemon X maybe. Messing with Wonder Trade? Trading a damn Bidoof named U MAD!?

Other than the spectacle at the borders of the Freedom Park, the fair is basically a carbon copy of last year. Most of the stalls last year were not just back, they were back to their same place last year which made it easy for us to locate a Reggae-styled shop that sells various trinkets. Most of the stores like this pay homage to Bob Marley by the way.
Jollibee wasn't present this year as well as a booth which sell underwears in the middle of the park (Hanes, for those wondering).

As for the booths of Student Organizations, there was a booth with a basketball free throw challenge, a flappy bird challenge, and a Just Dance Kinect challenge and the ever so famous Matsuri booth of UP SOMA. Their booth was still the same last year, Gold Fish scooping, wish papers hanged on a bamboo on a pot on their booth, the only difference is that on the 15th, their booth lacked electricity.

The booths near the Student Union Building were exactly the same as last year. Lots of toys, accessories, bags and posters of south korean boys that make the hearts of many girls beat 368 times per minute.
The S.U. building was open this time ince the food stalls inside the building were also operating during the fair to cater to the people in need of a quick grub since most stalls are riddled with long lines.

The WALL also made a return. No surprise there.

There were still a lot of people in attendance. And above all of those people, I saw one girl who got into the festival spirits too much that she came into the fair wearing a yukata. If I remember correctly, she was wearing a silver (or white) yukata with black (or dark colored) patterns. The patters were either on the shape of flowers, birds or butterflies. I think her hair was tied in place with a kanzashi, I'm not really sure though. I only got a glimpse of her walking past by. I didn't get a close look on her face but her style means that she must really be beautiful both in looks and personality (this is biased because I really like traditional Japanese ladies). Unfortunately I was too mesmerized during that short moment that I forgot how to operate the camera hanging on my neck.
I thought that the girl was part of the UPLB Japanology Society but I didn't see their booth anywhere on the park that evening.

Anyway that's all for my experience on the UPLB February Fair this year.
If you're wondering why I haven't posted anything about the main stage of the fair, that's because there were too many people for me to watch whatever it is that is going on. They say that the band/s that were to perform that evening until daybreak the following day were Sandwich, Calla Lilly etc.
I'm not a real fan of OPM so I suppose you can let me off easily on that topic.

*sorry for the low qual pics, had to re-size them because my ever so lovely slow internet uploads really, yup you've guessed it, slow
