I'm sure most of us tend to remember past humorous and random events then immediately laugh because it's just pure stupidity and unexpected comedy gold and you got front row seats for that.
While I do consider my time in high school a little dull with a mix of rose colored genuine moments, I still remember the times when one of my classmates would stand up on an armchair and dance to Careless Whisper only to break a leg of the seat.
Unfortunately there are those times when I was on the spotlight and the recipient of embarrassment.
While some where indeed unexpected (and unfortunate on my part) like one time during first year when I tried to jump over a line of bags only to boost the altitude of my leap with a loud fart, most of those embarrassing moments where I'm bathing in the spotlight were completely voluntary. I remember being such a douche every time my crush was on the classroom, there was also a time where I always raised my hand hoping to answer a question correctly and enthusiastically only to be shot down dead wrong. But perhaps the biggest voluntary and embarrassing moment in high school where hundreds of people were looking at me was when I danced as part of the Cotillion during my Junior prom. I was looking down for the whole dance. Even my pictures has my face looking down on the ground instead on the audience and my partner (who also happened to be my crush, sadly).
...these kinds of memories really put me into an uncomfortable position especially when they just pop out in my mind while I'm walking to class. Sometimes I don't even know if I'm walking properly in public because of these thoughts. Spotlight Effect for the win, damnit.
Anyway, my embarrassing high school moments aside, I finished Ixion Saga DT yesterday. While the anime isn't really remarkable as a whole, the humor offered in each individual episodes by different characters was something to note. Action and comedy just don't go well with a good story, but somehow Ixion Saga made it work, and that is already saying a lot for an anime of that genre.
The last episode was a little disappointing though, here I thought we'd finally get some heavy action, Kon's method of defeating the final boss wasn't devoid of any last laugh though as the climax of the anime really got me going in a good mood.
Let's also not forget about the final development of the anime's biggest plot devices, ED's balls and Mar's main evidence of masculinity:
Overall, Ixion Saga DT is worth the watch. There's a new thing to laugh at each episode, though they don't stand out pretty much altogether. There were too many inconsistencies with the plot that the anime was deliberately doing that but in the end everything fits in like a perfect disjointed and mangled puzzle.
The final scene was a little depressing when you start to empathize with Kon, though. T'was a great adventure, and I'm sure Kon misses it no matter how many times he said he didn't like it.
Story: 6/10
Characters: 8/10
Animation: 8/10
Artistry: 8/10
Music: 9/10
+ humor was pumped up to epic proportions in several episodes
