Wrestlemania XXX
21-1, these are the numbers that will partly haunt my childhood for a long time. You all know what those numbers mean, and to those who don't it's the Undertaker's vandalized Wrestlemania streak. The legendary streak that archived the greatest achievements of the Undertaker in Wrestlemania history. But despite my initial reactions after seeing the "STREAK OVER" slogans, after watching the replay on Fox I got more disappointed over how the streak ended. Actually, the whole of Wrestlemania 30 was one huge flop. There were only a few interesting matches on the already limited scheduled matches. The so called Andre the Giant Memorial battle royale was just a Royal Rumble knockoff just to kill time. For me the highlights of the event would be Daniel Brian vs. Triple H and John Cena vs. Bray Wyatt. Those were the only two matches with a solid background plot established going on to Wrestlemania.
The other supposed highlights of the event failed to bring a spectacle, even the comedic segments backstage all seem so stupid that it makes Wrestlemania 27 a masterpiece.
Now with the streak over, Undertaker has no real purpose of coming back once a year just to extend it at Wrestlemania. We all hoped for the streak to end someday but the ending that I had in mind was either a veteran vs. veteran clean match that's grand from start to finish, or a rookie vs. veteran match which would catapult the rookie to an illustrious career. Instead, they gave it to Brock Lesnar.
Taking the Undertaker's part into consideration, I suppose the company had no other choice but to give closure to one of the grandest stage of 'em all's drawing power. Despite his legacy, the Undertaker is not immortal and he will have to retire. Since his last Wrestlemania matches against Shawn Michaels and Triple H, Undertaker has appeared less and less in either brand of WWE until he only appeared once a year just in time to take part in a storyline going on to Wrestlemania.
Basically, the streak is what's keeping Undertaker from parting ways from the punishing business. His match with Brock Lesnar on the 30th anniversary was solid evidence (even if it was just acting) that the Undertaker is not fit to compete in long and grueling matches anymore. So the two routes available then would be to end the streak or to preserve it as one of WWE's greatest records.
Break-time promises
Aside from wasting part of the day lamenting over how lousy the Wrestlemania this year was despite the unsettling impact it left, I've kept a promise that I made regarding this blog.
I've finally change the template and like I said earlier, I'm liking the new theme but the template most definitely did not come from me. So I actually just partially fulfilled my promise of applying CMSC 2 knowledge on my blog.
I'm starting to appreciate Mirror of Fate little by little. But I still don't consider it part of the Castlevania canon or franchise at that matter. I've also slowly progressed in Ocarina of Time 3D and practiced a few rounds in Kid Icarus: Uprising.
Like before, I'm still lousy with the controls. Which is why I am in urgent need of a Circle Pad Pro.
Anyway, something new I learned today?
Well I hoped to learn how to ride a bike at some point during my summer daze but instead I practiced using a skateboard, which is pretty fun to be honest.
Believe it or not, the one and only skateboard here in our house belongs to my mother. She has told me stories about her youth and how she was good at using the skateboard before. It was only now, though, when I start to believe.
I, on the other hand, am still trying to get my right foot to settle down behind when the wheels starts rolling.
As with the bicycle, balance is key.
I didn't get to write any programs today. I tried installing Java here on my laptop but it's not compiling even after all the changes I've made in the pathways.
