Summer Daze 5

Event Coverage: April 10, 2014

Had a fun day together with my mom in Pampanga today.
Our main objective for the day was to pick up my mom's renewed automated passport at Robinson's Mall but we spent the majority of the day in SM Pampanga.

My main objective on the other hand was to search for a Circle Pad Pro (yep, I'm still desperate). I also stopped on a few places while rounding the mall.
I stopped by National Bookstore in search of interesting books particularly by John Green, I found some of course but the price is beyond a deal with my wallet.
I also stopped by Astrovision and Cyber Zone in search of a Circle Pad Pro but to no avail.

I ultimately found one, the Japanese model version, in Toy Kingdom. It was priced at 1,100 PhP so I went on with it without hesitation. Before checking out, I browsed their shelves. Toy Kingdom is still the best general toy store around in my opinion (that is, of course, disregarding the price). On my way to the cashier, the Gunpla shelf caught my eye.

I've seen a lot of Gundam models magnificently displayed behind glass shelves during cosplay conventions, some even held gunpla building contests. I figured since I have my well-saved semester allowance intact I might as well spend it on something good besides the Circle Pad Pro so I chose a basic model kit.
My total spending that day was 1510 PhP.

Before going back home, mom and I stopped at a government services center to request for  original copies of birth certificates. Around 6:20 we finally boarded a bus home.

Unpacking the goods...and the bads

Despite the uber long travels from here to there and back, the day didn't seem too long at all.
After dinner, I got to one of the best part of coming home after buying a few things - unpacking them.

I tried out my Circle Pad Pro first...
let me see, the only game I have which can use it is Kid Icarus: Uprising.
I thought, through the CCP, I can finally play KI:U to its full potential in left-handed form. I was terribly wrong.

I attempted to use the right stick to move the reticle and the left stick to move Pit. But apparently you can't use two different functions for each circle pad. The function of one circle pad is only augmented to the other one, so there were no improvements with the control scheme whatsoever.

But I'm not about to call it a waste of money just yet. I'm just a little disappointed with the results because I expected a much more comfortable gameplay with the CCP. Then when I use it, I've never been confused more playing Kid Icarus. Hopefully, there will be more future games to come which will utilize the Circle Pad Pro to its full potential.

Anyway, on to the Gunpla model.
I was in internal conflict whether I should watch the first episode of Game of Thrones season 4 or proceed on to build the Gunpla model. I chose the later. And the result was very rewarding (I'll post more about the building part later):

While this may strike as shallow pride, I am quite proud of this achievement. First time building a Gunpla and everything gets in the whole model in one piece, no lost pieces or broken pieces (unlike my love life...).

nothing is more majestic than posing with a wall fan in the background
