Aside from Kid Icarus Uprising and Bravely Default I haven't really touched any other games for the 3DS. Ever since clearing the two A Link Between Worlds and Ocarina of Time, I haven't fared well in second quests because I'm less inspired now that I've already conquered Ganon, and saved Princess Zelda and Hyrule.
My quest in Kid Icarus Uprising isn't exactly going that well either because of the lousy control scheme. I have safely fried the Phoenix in Chapter 10 and buried the monster-truck Cragalanche. Viridi and Pit's short dialogue before the boss fight tickled a few funny bones.
Pit: *after seeing the Cragalanche* Cragalanche, huh. What is that, a monster truck?
Viridi: Pit, huh. What are you, a hole in the ground?
laaawl.
Next chapter will be Wrath of the Reset Bomb. I've gone through the aerial part of the chapter but couldn't proceed because of the two times I went to that chapter, my battery always ran dry. You see, that's the trouble of handhelds especially games without quicksave or auto-save functions, you always have to restart when the battery demands to be charged. This is why my progress in Resident Evil: Revelations was halted.
On the other hand, I'm still enjoying my journey with Tiz and company in Bravely Default. Finally, a game where it literally takes more than 100 hours for 100% completion. The waiting mini-game that is rebuilding Norende Village was a nice addition, it makes waiting in sleep mode really compelling. It wouldn't really take that long if you have more than 1 friend registered in the system as villagers but, well, I'm alone in this journey.
Speaking of sleep mode, putting the system in sleep mode also provides a useful (yet limited) ability via collecting Sleep Points. Every eight accumulated hours that the system is put to sleep while playing Bravely Default, the player earns a Sleep Point which can be used for Bravely Second - Square Enix's patented "Break from Turned-Based tradition" ability.
I've collected 3 SP's during the first chapter and I haven't used them in any battles since until a silly accident fighting Mephilia Venus.
For those who already played the game, the first encounter with Mephilia is during the sub-scenario during the party's trip to Yulyana Woods. I usually do sub-scenarios first before the actual chapter scenario mainly for level grinding and farming materials. Defeating her will give the user the Summoner Asterisk. She was the most difficult that I fought in a while. Chapter One's Dragon, Orthos and the Time Mage were all wusses, but I wouldn't say they were all easy as pie.
The battle started out pretty well for me, her melee attacks were pretty much easy to handle, but everything changed when (the fire nation attacked) she used Summon spells. She has two summon spells, one is for summoning foot soldiers and the other is summoning the mighty Girtablulu. The first cut-scene was amazing that I didn't even mind Ringabel dying from the attack. Her following attacks featured the same cut-scene but I would pretty much like it if the cut-scene could be skipped. There's where my mistake came to play.
What do you usually press when you want to skip a cut-scene? The START button right, but I damn forgot about Bravely Second!! So goodbye to one SP.
Next time she used Girtablulu, I assumed pressing START would be out of the question, pressing any of the action buttons didn't give any results and the fast forward function didn't work, so I resorted to pressing SELECT...WHICH ALSO ACTIVATES BRAVELY SECOND damnit. So I just wasted 16 hours of collected SP which didn't really gave me any advantage in the battle. I won, though, so I got that going for me.
Here're my team's job during the boss fight:
Agne's - Lv. 9 White Mage
Edea - Lv. 9 Black Mage
Tiz - Lv. 9 Monk
Ringabel - Lv. 7 Thief
I struggled with Ringabel during the latter half of chapter 1. I scrambled through three jobs - Freelancer, Knight and Monk - just to see where he fares best. After the sub-scenario with the Thief and Spell-Fencer Asterisk, I finally got his sparkling spotlight. He's so far my MVP in the Thief job. What he lacks for in defense, he makes up for it with speed and surprisingly high attack. Thief has high aptitude with daggers but Ringabel is better off with a bow (A aptitude in Thief job). His abilities are also helpful for farming common and rare items.
The Summoner Asterisk has lousy stats but its strong summons and high MP more than makes up for it. I changed Jobs for Edea because she's my current character with S aptitude for Rods which helps out a lot now that she's both a Black Mage and Summoner.
Now, on to the topic of Bravely Second. I recently read about Bravely Second (not the ability) being the working title for the game's sequel. Further into the topic, gamers can actually unlock the special movie via the Konami Code in the game's file menu. The trailer makes use of the 3DS's gyroscope feature to l
ook around the special movie in first person perspective.
The trailer is pretty vague to me right now considering I haven't even reached half of Bravely Default. But based from the working title and the fact that Magnolia Arch mentioning Tiz being blessed to live in two different eras implies that a huge timeskip is involved. The Bravely Second ability which involves time being stopped in-game might also have a deeper meaning when it was used as the working title for the sequel since, well, time is involved.
Right now the current games on my wish list are the upcoming Super Smash Bros. for the 3DS which will be released in the third quarter of the year. The earliest might be next month. Also coming this November is the long awaited Gen. 3 remake of Pokemon, Alpha Sapphire and Omega Ruby.
Nintendo is still on a roll. And take note, E3 starts tomorrow, even though it's mainly PS4 vs. Xbox One. Actually I might just be the only one not that excited for E3 since I'm not really that thrilled in high-end games that are Sony and Microsoft exclusive. Except Final Fantasy. Final Fantasy XV might be good stuff considering the great difference in quality Final Fantasy XIV A Realm Reborn had compared to the first release.

Magnolia Arch. So elegant and beautiful even in chibi-form. She's like the secret love child of Edea and Agne's's descendants |
