WWE Money in the Bank 2014 |
I have no say in the undercard of the event since it's obvious that WWE focused more on the buildup of the main event. The seven superstars in the match for the vacant championship are Alberto del Rrrrrrrio, Cesaro, Randy Orton, Sheamus, Bray Wyatt, John Cena and Roman Reigns. It's a mix of 3 rising stars and 4 past champions and with the current winds the WWE is using to direct the movement of the company, it's safe to assume that none of the four veterans WILL be crowned as the new WWEWHC.
The Veterans
John Cena is the favorite veteran of winning the championship but why give him a sudden boost when his previous feud with the Wyatt's never involved nor mentioned the championship. It'd also be pointless to crown Cena as the champion since he's already been at the top of the company time and again. If in the event that he was crowned as the champion then who would he feud against? The Authority? The remaining members of the Shield? The Wyatt's, again? Just the sound of it is boring. It's pointless to repeat the magnificent run of Cena as champion. Right now, his best role in the company is to be the boost for the rising stars. What's more, in the past two weeks he's become a target of The Authority. Whether that's just a short angle to include him in the main event or it would extend to several more PPVs, we want more.
Sheamus being crowned as champion is also a boring outcome. He's already the US Champion, damnit, and if he ever won the championship who'd want to take him seriously carrying three belts at once every time he enters the ring. But it can't be denied that Sheamus plays the role of a champion quite well. He's a tough brawler and tougher as a champion, but remember he still has an unfinished feud with Cesaro.
Alberto del Rio, though a past champion and among the veterans, is obviously the odd one out. First of all, where did he suddenly pop out earning a championship match just by winning a match against Dolph Ziggler. If anything, Dolph Ziggler would've been the better choice. Crowing Alberto del Rio would make the least sense because of his current stature in the WWE. He's been out of the spotlight for too long following his short feud against Batista earlier this year. Giving him a sudden boost when he's been practically forgotten by most of the WWE Universe will most likely produce a disappointing and uninteresting storyline.
Randy Orton is another favorite veteran in winning the championship. But then again ever since Wrestlemania XXX he has remained quiet regarding his quest to reclaim the title because of his involvement in Evolution. However, Triple H's constant babying of the previous champion just proves that WWE still has faith in Randy Orton in bringing an interesting fight as a contender, and not a champion. However, out of the four veterans going in the match Randy winning the championship makes the most sense because he was the previous champion and he can be champion while still being a member of Evolution which adds more depth to their feud with the Shield.
A future Randy Orton vs. Daniel Bryan championship match also sounds interesting since Randy Orton never really "defeated" Bryan to earn the championship.
The Rising Stars
Cesaro was a nice addition to the match since he's been offering a lot of surprises most prominently in his win at the Andre' the Giant Memorial Battle Royale. Paul Heyman taking Cesaro under his wing was a large boost to his career but he's not quite championship material yet. Following Wrestlemania XXX, he's feuded with RVD and Sheamus for a chance at the Intercontinental and US championships, but he hasn't held any of the two, yet. Winning the WWEWHC will boost his position in the company but won't do him much good since he's current feud is with Sheamus who's also a current champion. That will most likely be a weak feud and will diminish the value of the championship.
Bray Wyatt is an interesting superstar. His character is built upon the torment of others, it didn't matter whether he win or lose he just kept coming back with more bizarre things to say. It feels like he could be the next Undertaker but more vocal and, yes, bizarre. His feud with John Cena started off too conveniently but it was one of the best feuds this year and even if Cena seemed to have hammered the last nail to their feud it doesn't quite feel like it's over yet. But then came his quest for a championship. It was disappointing for his character. Bray Wyatt was already one of the fastest rising stars of the WWE. Even if he was playing the role of a heel, he was a favorite to the majority, and he got to his current position without the slightest mention of any championship. He didn't need it. He's one of the few superstars who will always draw a lot of people in without the use of a championship, but WWE had other plans. The powerful character of Bray Wyatt suddenly became power hungry searching for the WWEWHC. It doesn't sound right. It feels like when he wins the championship, his character diminishes from someone who only cares for the torment of his enemies to someone who's got the "championship" in his hands and will keep it no matter what.
Then there's Roman Reigns. Is it his time to Reign supreme at the top of WWE? Yes! But there are a lot of catches. Reigns is obviously the one who'll get the biggest portion of the spotlight in the main event. Though he never got any promo about wanting the championship or deserving it in any way, he seems like he's already at the top. However, winning the championship might be a distraction to his ongoing feud with Seth Rollins and his allegiance with Dean Ambrose. But it should be noted that he's also in a feud against Randy Orton and Triple H. There are a lot of possibilities opening up for him and his close associates and enemies. Seeing him win, will most likely produce the best outcome.
Regarding the WWE World Heavyweight Championship
Ever since the company united the World Heavyweight Championship and the WWE Championship, the number of superstars involved in WWE storylines have narrowed. Out of all the current storylines and feuds in the WWE only three constantly prevails as being in the expectations of the fans. Shield vs. Evolution, the Championship, and the dwindling Cena vs. Wyatt's. In the upcoming Money in the Bank Ladder Match there's a possibility that the unified WWE World Heavyweight Championship will split into two again and two superstars might be crowned as champions. In the event that this happens, these two stars will most likely be Roman Reigns and Bray Wyatt.
Think about, Bray Wyatt feuded with John Cena who's best known for his run as one of the best WWE Champions. Roman Reigns, a powerhouse, feuded with Evolution which consists of Triple H (the very first World Heavyweight Champion), Randy Orton (the youngest World Heavyweight Champion) and Batista (whose career was built upon winning the World Heavyweight Champion).
The fact that the championship title was kept as two belts and not one single championship belt supports this idea. Bray and Reigns could both climb the ladder and the two would reach out to one of the belts simultaneously. Both will be awarded as champions and the unified championship is officially split once again.
There's also a very small possibility that a "come from behind" victory by Del Rio since he's the odd one out because he doesn';t have anyone to feud with in the match.
Sheamus will be up against Cesaro, Cena is up with Wyatt, and Roman Reigns will battle it out with Orton.
Possible Aftermaths
Considering the outcome I mentioned above, the Wyatt's will most likely reign supreme if Luke Harper and Erick Rown wins the Tag Team titles from the Uso's, and the Shield will be ultimately cracked.
If I'm not mistaken, there will also be a Money in the Bank Ladder match for a Contract. Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose will most likely be in that match and let's say Dean Ambrose wins the briefcase. He'll have a choice between challenging Bray Wyatt, who have two guards with him, or Roman Reigns, his friend, ally and he could stab him in the back anytime. Considering that happens, Evolution's feud against the Shield will end, Ambrose will reign as champion, Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns will beat the hell out of each other to get a title shot.
Daniel Bryan's current position in the company is hard to predict since he's still recovering from his injury and whether he'll make an announced or unannounced return, will definitely be explosive.
