Huzzah! (I got that from a friend), I finally got the motivation to talk (write) boring nonsense to most people here on my abyss.
It's not surprising that it took me three days to actually post something about the FIFA World Cup finals, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, the two day signal #3 storm warning struggle of our province and the new book on my reading list, Haruki Murakami's Blind Willow, Sleeping Woman.
I watched the finals of the FIFA World Cup till the end of of extra time even after Goetze sealed Germany's victory with that picture perfect goal. The match started exactly 3 a.m and ended at 5:30. I was already drowsy around that time, I couldn't watch Germany's celebration afterwards. I only got to see the faces of the champions and the runners up the next day. Despite being the runners up, you could really see the disappointment of Lionel Messi's face when he received the "Best Player" award, on the other hand Germany's Klose was all smiles after setting in a new World Cup Record of Most goals standing at 16 goals, but I think the player with the widest smile from the German team has got to be Mario Goetze with his match winning goal twelve minutes into the extra time.
I only got 4 hours of sleep that same day, mom and I went to Olongapo around 11 in the morning. There were news about an incoming storm called Glenda in the Philippines but it didn't arrive until the afternoon of July 15. Anyway, that day was extremely hot. It's like the sun pleasured itself into releasing all its energy that one day just before the storm carpeted the sky with thick grey clouds the following days. It only added to my headache and I struggled to keep myself wide awake. The annoyance of all the other NPCs around me didn't help in waking me up so coffee was already out of the question by that time.
The current book on my reading list is William Golding's Lord of the Flies but there's just something about Murakami stories that I can't get enough off. The way Murakami describes the surroundings is just so bizarre and detailed to the point that his weird fantasy becomes everyone's normal reality when reading his book. And so with the allowance I was given by my father, I bought myself another Murakami novel, it's actually more of a collection than a novel: Blind Willow, Sleeping Woman. And as always there's that feeling of complete discontent and unsettling feeling every time I finish his stories, only this time it's amplified because they're all short stories.
When we got home, I brushed my teeth, got a goodnight's kiss from my mom and planted myself in my sofa-bed using my blanket as a greenifier. I made sure I got plenty of sleep that night (the evening of July 14) but still set up five alarms ranging from 6:30 to 8:45. I woke up at 6:30 the first alarm, by that time I already had 9 hours of sleep but the soft song of my bed kept me from even staying up for more than a minute and so I went back to dreamland. I finally woke up around 9, my normal waking time snatching in a rare 12 hours of sleep.
That morning (July 15) was a little sunny but the raging typhoon Glenda quickly invited in her clouds sealing the rays of the sun from penetrating the sky. It's still grey clouds all over even now that the storm has gone devastating several areas here in the Philippines. We also went through, say, a collective one whole day without electricity.
I still can't say that all's well now because typhoon Glenda has also pulled in another storm (must be her boyfriend) close by east of the country.

The last thing mom and I did in Olongapo was watch Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. I gotta say the nature of this film makes it better in every way than Rise. I'm just a little sad that the character of James Franco didn't have a proper exit from the story. It was implied that he died due to the Simian virus but that didn't give off any dramatic value even if his memory lives on through Caesar. It wasn't until the second half of the film where the audience were given a dose of dramatic nostalgia when the half-dead Caesar wished to recuperate in the house where he lived when he was young. Even if I was still in a daze watching the film because of lack of sleep, that one scene where James Franco made a cameo via video teaching a young Caesar and the two hugging before the video cuts just moisturized my eyes and cheeks too much I had to wipe it off using my hanky.
