I've completely messed up my schedule this weekend. What I should have been doing since waking up (programming, obviously programming) turned into a feels trip down epic lane after I decided to catch up to the latest chapter of Naruto. The last time I read Naruto was way back earlier this year. Acads got in the way until I lost motivation reading the series since the chapters piled up, I stopped at Gai's extreme display of his power of youth against Madara. Twenty-two chapters later, I'm at the latest chapter released last Wednesday - Sasuke is still full emo-crap after all they've been through.
Starting from Naruto's and Sasuke's encounter with Hagoromo Ootsutsuki (Sage of the Six Paths) to their epic battle against the beautiful yet dangerous Kaguya, I just lost all sense of time-managing responsibilities. The story drew me in, the characters and their struggles, the revelation about the whole Ninja world as told in the perspective of Black Zetsu...just wow. I couldn't stop clicking "Next Page".
Naruto's silly yet moving farewell to his father was a rare genuine tearjerker in the story. It felt natural coming from Naruto, and it didn't feel forced at all.
Even Obito and Kakashi's personal goodbyes made me well up inside. I kept thinking to myself, "Ah, Obito is finally with Rin" over and over again.
But just when everything seemed to be well - with Kaguya re-sealed, Madara defeated and the war over - the Sage of the Six Paths gave a reminder that the infinite tsukiyomi was still active. What happens next? Sasuke steals the spotlight and he might just as well be the whole series' big evil after all. Looks like we'll be getting another Naruto vs. Sasuke battle much like the one they had at the Valley of the End.
As I read through the story, I couldn't help but look back at all the enemies Naruto and company encountered. From Mizuki, Zabuza Momochi and Haku, Gaara, Orochimaru, the Akatsuki, the Bijuu, Obito, Madara all the way to Kaguya - they've come really far and the stories each encounter tell was a step higher than the previous.
How appropriate for the series' author, Masashi Kishimoto, to end all the fighting of Part 2 in the same manner he ended in Part 1. But this battle, Naruto's so-called end to the "Sibling Rivalry" that spanned for generations has a lot at stake. One's defeat doesn't mean the complete glory of the other.
Sadly, there won't be any new chapters this coming week, but I'm pretty sure the story will span for a few more months. There's still a conflict to resolve and plenty of characters to give a proper conclusion to. And as a fan of the relationship, I'm really hoping that Naruto and Hinata end up together as the series draw to a close.
Now I'm in a complete hangover, again. I'm not always caught up in a situation like this where two extremely inspiring events hit me real hard in the same week. First was White Album last Thursday, then Naruto this morning. It's a good feeling of sorts, but when I have a lot to do, much like today, when I witness something epic unfold in front of me, and when it ends, I'm bored for the rest of the day suffering and enjoying in my own internal conflict.

Kaguya Ootsutsuki is actually really beautiful. She reminds me of Hinata and Kushina - the perfect wife and mother for Naruto |
