I still haven't got the slightest clue as to which direction Bayonetta's plot is going since everything after the prologue has been about her past. Ok, I get it. She's a witch, she's powerful, she has amnesia, she's searching for clues, and dang nabbit she's hot, and I mean really hot.
I finished Chapters one to three today, I would've progressed much farther if I didn't keep replaying the same chapters but thanks to all those stupid Enzo Stone Statues judging me every chapter I kept going back until I at least get a bronze...to no avail. Apparently dying takes a big toll on the final score each chapter and if it wasn't for this QTEs I could score at least a bronze or a silver. I already repeated chapter 2 four times and I kept receiving the stone statue just because of the QTE right as the chapter closes. Imagine this, I consistently receive gold and silver medals with each verses within each chapter my chances of getting a good statue is high then the same shit with the QTE happens at least twice so what do I get? This:
This is one reason why I really can't wait to play Bayonetta 2, QTEs are nonexistent in the sequel, they don't deserve to exist and thank god Platinum Games removed them.
Anyway, my hate for the QTEs aside, exploring the many areas of Vigrid is really fun and while it's not an open world each area have their own charm, secrets and enemy encounters. Bayonetta's past is slowly revealed in segments by meeting new characters or visiting places that she has been at in the past. Chapter one was short but it still had a few things to teach such as waling on water using Witch Time, the double jump (yep, we all needed help with that one), and introducing the Gates of Hell as the game's shop. The main highlight of the chapter was the fight against Fortitudo in a flashback. It was difficult mainly because the majority of the time the only way I could deal continuous damage was through firing the Scarborough Fair. I died a couple of times here but the objective here was to deplete only half of the boss' health. After dealing with Fortitudo the true boss of the chapter appears, the Beloved. The boss fight was definitely easier than the Foritudo fight but thanks to the involvement of QTE (AGAIN) I knocked myself out a couple more times. Meh.

Chapter two starts off with Bayonetta remembering a duel against Jeanne. The fight was just an appetizer to what two witches can do when pitted against each other. Flawless execution of combos, and well-timed dodges were a challenge against Jeanne since Witch Time was not an option during the duel. However, what makes this battle unique is the introduction of the Witch Walk. The Witch Walk allows Bayonetta to defy gravity and walk on walls and the ceiling as long as the light of the full moon is unobstructed. Chapter two was fairly long and it took me almost an hour the first time I played it. In this chapter a member of the Assassin Order is introduced:
Well not really. His name is Luka but his last name is thankfully not Megurine. I assumed that he was going to be an assassin of sorts since he was introduced wearing a hood, running from guards, stealthy but it all went away when he stopped to woo a lady.
He's not just some random dude, though, as it appeared that he and Bayonetta had a past...Bayonetta killed his father, there. It wasn't Bayonetta's fault, though. Imagine sleeping for 500 years only to be waken up by someone wearing Scuba gear, even I would be freaked out. He doesn't seem to harbor much hatred to Bayonetta in fact they seem to enjoy each other's company by subtly killing each other - of course, Bayonetta has the upper hand. The difficulty is taken a notch higher in this chapter with new enemies spawning in great numbers. The area was also beautifully designed prompting me to search every corner of each area to look for secrets and hidden items. The boss in this chapter was Fortitudo in an easier fight than the previous one. Anyway, I talked about this boss fight above (it invloved the friggn' QTE that I kept miscalculating). Well, that's all for now. I'll save Chapter three for later, my head is floating again.
