Link-System Hyeah!!

I'm still on an indefinite on-again, off-again relationship with my 3DS (it's mostly just her, though). I just can't fully commit to her with all the acads I have going in to the last month of the school year. Agh, girlfriends, amirite?! (For those still bewildered by this materialistic delusions of mine, let me just clarify that yes I include my handheld gaming device in my list of waifus, back off).
So, as for any gaming related news I have going on, especially Zeldathon, those will have to wait until I finally get to that point in the semester where I can sleep without any academically-induced nightmares haunting me before I even close my eyes.

Anyway, it's been more than two weeks since I last posted anything here so let's talk about something...let's talk about grammar asdfgklkjhgfdsasdfghj-grammar, yes.
I recently finished an assignment on one of my major courses this semester, and by recently I mean an hour ago. Our assignment was to test our understanding about grammars in Language Theory by drawing a fascinating image using L-system. It's in this assignment where I finally understood the saying "A picture is worth a thousand production rules"...no, really.

My first tries with L-system were fun creating random images and pumping up the image to the 108th derivation as I watch the PC suffer the consequences. The assignment wasn't all fun and games, though, because I couldn't extract a single interesting image without looking similar to the examples already given. I ultimately decided on a different route, I disregarded patterns in favor of creating a single whole image on the first derivation. And so I ended up with the Master Sword.
This is just the first derivation by the way. Just imagine the length of the LHS of the first variable.
Sixth derivation:
9th derivation:
If you guys didn't notice, I flopped the bottom part. I started the first sword at the wrong point so naturally all iterations would move a little to the left.
Apparently this evening, the L in L-System stands for Link. Sorry Mr. Lindemayer.
If you guys want to check out L-System it's available on JFLAP. It's really fun. Well, I mean not as fun as Zelda, c'mon, but generating images from a combination of letters is pretty rewarding especially if you're just typing in random.

On a side note, just last year I also worked on a Master Sword, wonder when I'll finally put it to good use...
