according to the Internet, this is a nice tribute to Jojo |
The floor starts off with the party almost capturing the Pink Rabbit but if we've all been paying attention in the last two floors that would not be the case. The party drew closer to the pink abomination but it just suddenly disappeared into the realm unknown (probably to have tea with Oz and B-Rabbit, oh wait...). What's left to the party is a small room the shape of a two-headed hammer with a an ominous looking gate at the far end of the room.
A new labyrinth feature is introduced, although I'm sure it only shows up on the last floors of each labyrinth, the gear icon a.k.a a save point.
Moving onward to the floor's ominous gates Fuuka warns the party that there is a shadow looming on the other side of the room with a high enough power level to be concerned about, yep it's definitely a boss.
But first, here's a short status report of my current party:
Front Left: Arisa Minato (Protagonist)
Level: 10
Sub-Persona: Sandman
Front Middle: Akihiko Sanada
Level: 11
Sub-Persona: Anzu
Front Right: Mitsuru "Killjoy" Kirijo
Level: 11
Sub-Persona: Agathion
Rear Left: Robo-waifu (Aigis)
Level: 11
Sub-Persona: Pixie
Rear Right: Zen & Buffet-waifu (Rei)
Level: 11
Meh you can really see how disjointed my party is based from skills alone. This is why I never succeed in online Pokemon battles.
So, ready?
Big surprise *in the most apathetic voice I could muster*. First boss fight and the boss doesn't actually fight, in the first round at least. In this round, after the Queen's lengthy monologue showcasing her ridiculous voice about how no one is leaving the labyrinth, is against a deck of Card Soldiers.
These spawns of her towering majesty don't offer much in the field of offense however they do outnumber the party and their continuous offense can be annoying. Avoid wasting too much SP by using support skills but don't rely on too much melee as well. If possible just bombard the Card Soldiers with elemental skills, multi-targeting elemental skills are highly recommended (ZEN AND REI!! ZEN AND REI!!).
Unfortunately I have the ludicrous ability of scattering the effective skills so I kinda had a hard time dealing with this pack of solitaire pieces. Still having Zen and Rei is a big help thanks to the former's Thunderclap sending the cards to the hellhole they crawled up from.
After a series of respawns a cutscene will trigger finally introducing...Yasogami High's Investigation Team! *fireworks*
I let the goosebumps from all the epicness of a 24-second cutscene settle down for a while before resuming the battle.
So the Investigation Team has finally arrived together with the eldest Velvet Room sibling, Margaret, to help in the very first boss fight. As the skirmish continues against the Card Soldiers, four members of the Investigation Team temporarily joins the party leaving the P3 Protagonist the only P3 fighter.
Party Shuffle!
Front Left: Arisa Minato (P3 Protagonist)
Front Middle: Yu Narukami (P4 Protagonist)
Front Right: Yosuke Hanamura
Rear Left: Chie Satonaka (Sakura Haruno #2)
Rear Right: Yukiko Amagi (the most beautiful waifu in the Persona series)
Round 2
Oh how the tables have turned, how the scales have been tipped, how the tides of battle have gone to our favor. Round 2 was merely a mercy killing session for the remainder of her extra large majesty's spawns.
Proud to say my darling Yukiko decimated the remaining Card Soldiers into oblivion with her powerful multi-targeting Maragi, I just made the rest of the party defend themselves to sleep.
The Queen of Hearts grew furious after raising inferno to devour her animated playing cards. Taking matters into her own hands finally the real boss fight begins.
Playing true to their supporting role for this boss fight, the Investigation Team focuses on the remaining persistent Card Soldiers while the members of SEES fight the Queen of Hearts.
FINAL ROUND
True to being a Persona boss, the Queen of Farts has no weakness to any elemental and physical attack so it was basically hack-and-slash, defend, heal and stun. Rinse and repeat. Since the Investigation Team is busy with the Card Soldiers we're back with the first party I listed above. My heavy artillery waifu and Zen & Rei turned out to be the most effective in both offense and defense.
I'm playing in normal mode so there's really no sudden Crisis Core Minerva-level difficulty spike ahead. In the first few turns, the Queen will almost always use Mow Down, a multi-targeting attack that affects a whole row, in my case it always seem to target the Front row. Upon receiving enough damage the Queen will summon Card Soldiers to man the front row while she retreats to the back row. Again, multi-targeting elemental skills are really useful in this situation. Do not waste any physical skills on the Card Soldiers, always aim for the Queen. The summoned Card Soldiers will defend more than they attack and will almost always use Safeguard to further defend the Queen, what's more if the Card Soldiers are wiped out the Queen will just summon another set so just keep the majority of the offense at the Queen.
After 11 turns the Queen finally bit the dust. I managed to finish the battle without any of my party members dying (that's good, that's really good). It wasn't bad for a first boss battle seeing as how epic the scenarios turned out to be starting from the first round.
The Queen of Hearts has no item drops (at least that goes for me) but the party does receive a whopping 13 415 experience points (that's good as well).
Winner: SEES (with some assistance from the Investigation Team)
Aftermath
It's all plot-progressing dialogue and cutscenes galore after this but first, before all fun and games (which is what the P3 and P4 cast will be doing in a majestic cutscene), the party takes the spoils of battle: a stuffed bunny rabbit named Niko.
The cast speculate on why the Queen of Hearts was so determined to guard this fluff of cuteness but only bewilderment befell their tired souls. It's easy to deduce that this stuffed animal alludes to the concepts of Alice in Wonderland, though it's kind of a wonder how this stuffed rabbit is related to the Pink Rabbit the SEES has been following. When asked about the stuffed animal the amnesiac duo, Zen & Rei, gave neutral answers, Rei seemed to be more withdrawn than Zen this time around so all suspicions on Rei! Even her character image when talking was uneasy.
The party is then contacted by Fuuka telling them that one of the locks binding the two doors that appeared in the Velvet Room was about to come off.
So, off to the Velvet Room we go.
It got a little talky when the cast left You in Wonderland. Now outside, everyone finally got to formally introduce each other. Rise Kujikawa is also added to the P4 cast having already acquainted herself with Fuuka, Elizabeth and Theodore.
Now that they're all finally together it's pretty easy to pair the P3 character to the P4 character based on character traits. Not all of them are pair-able though. One thing I can say for certain, though, Yukiko Amagi is the most beautiful goddess above them all.
The next scene is in the Velvet Room where it first introduces Marie, a character from Persona 4 Golden. She's responsible for handling the Streetpass mechanic of Persona Q, yeah not quite interested in that as of the moment.
Heck, even Marie didn't seem like she wanted to. All three Velvet Room siblings, the main cast of Persona 3 and Persona 4 flocked together in front of the two doors bound by chains and four locks. They again deduced that clearing a Labyrinth and defeating the boss residing in it have a connection to the locked doors. What it all means, even the Velvet Room siblings don't know, however the party makes it their mission to unlock the doors for now.
Margaret then becomes the custodian of the Velvet Room taking over Elizabeth's duties and adding in the Triangle Fusion mechanic (finally).
Elizabeth on the other hand now has full time control of the clinic flipping over the interior design and drowning it in everything Jack Frost related, she even changed from her usual Velvet Room blue dress to a pink nurse-themed dress, talk about getting into character with passion.
Aside from the redesign of the clinic the party can now take Requests from Elizabeth for some hefty rewards.
Now's the part where the 'all fun and games' cutscene starts. It's the final clip on the following video, but if you want to watch the side-by-side comparison of the cutscenes starting from the arrival of the two teams in the eerie version of Yasogami High to their Festive 'all fun and games' mood then watch the whole video (it's not that long anyway).
After the cutscene we're free to do anything again but now the options in the hub menu has increased with the most notable addition being the option to Stroll around Yasogami High and improve relationships with each other. Huh, looks like this could be a slightly dumb down versio of the Social Link System, nice.
Welp, that's all for now. Thank you for reading up to this part, here's a virtual cookie I drew with all my heart using MS Paint.
Milk? You want milk? Go draw it yourself!
...
Just kidding, here you go.
Well don't look at me like that. That cookie looks like a buzzsaw for a reason.
