Though we do not know officially and there's no formal announcement whether it will be live or animated as well (come to think of it, why would they make a movie of the same story if it is not live action), this craze all started with one fan made, take note, FAN MADE theatrical poster of Shingeki no Kyojin.

As written on the poster above, the "film" is due September 7, 2018. Everything that the poster displays all seem authentic and official but sad to say it is not. And we're all still in the dark hoping for it to become official.
Shingeki no Kyojin started out as a manga series (still ongoing) by Isayama Hajime. The anime adaptation, which started April 6, 2013, is easily considered one of the best animes this season despite still being on the 6th episode of 25.
Talks on a certain anime news site (www.sankakucomplex.com) focuses on, if ever production of a movie will push through, the people who will make the movie.
On an article in Sankaku Complex, it is stated as "One Anime Movie you wish Hollywood would Make". Sure hollywood has the budget but do they have the skills?
Remember Dragonball Evolution? yeah that's what we're all trying to avoid.
And while we're at it, a Hollywood adaptation of Death Note is also in production and is directed by Shane Black, the same director as the 3rd installment of Iron Man, but really I think Hollywood should just keep their paws of Japanese Anime.
I know we're all relieved that the film Rurouni Kenshin was made by Japanese hands, so let's keep it that way.
I guess only time will tell about the fate of any upcoming movie regarding Shingeki no Kyojin. The poster does look promising, but a great film, especially those that are adapted from an original material, doesn't only require a good looking poster.
