Things got a little calmer here in the province this day but definitely not in most parts of the country's capital.
I woke up on the usual time. I wasn't able to see my relatives off, they left early because they planned to spend the rest of the week in Baguio (oh sweet, sweet Baguio). My day went by normally, ate Ice Cream for Brunch and leftover hotdogs and noodles for supper.
I spent almost the whole day lurking around the cyberworld. Clearly, the heat that the elections brought yesterday hasn't died down and it just keeps getting hotter in Facebook and news sites.
The candidates who won in our town were recognized early this morning. My uncle's reaction to the results of the election was bittersweet. Yes, he won his 2nd term as mayor but he has a lot of problem already, the main one is that he is outnumbered. Out of his 8 running councilors, only 3 got into position the other 5 are from the other party and the vice mayor was from the other party as well. Now it's up to him to win the trust and support of more people for another 3 years.
The senatorial race is not over yet but with only a few percentage left before finalization most of the candidates that are on place in the 'Magic 12' are already celebrating. Nothing much has changed from the list that I posted on my May 13 entry. Clearly, with the reaction and hate post of people on social media, a lot of people are dismayed by how the senatorial lineup turned out.
Newcomers invaded the Magic 12 and some notable veterans and newcomers WITH QUALIFICATIONS were left out such as Richard Gordon, Risa Hontiveros, Migz Zubiri, Ed Hagedorn and Ramon Magsaysay Jr..
I also read an article a while ago regarding Time Magazine calling the Philippines the "Most STUPID Country to Elect a 20-Year OJT as a Senator"
The article was mainly bashing Nancy Binay (daughter of current vice president Jejomar Binay) and the
11, 985, 729 people who voted for her. I enjoyed reading the article because, finally the country and its people were called Stupid. Though I laugh not in the sense of being degraded but in the sense of our own unique nonsense.
For several years now, I've always wondered why people would love and support this candidate during elections and several days, weeks or months after the elections they are already criticizing this candidate.
People of the Philippines, vote for someone who keeps the same face he wore, on campaign period, during his term.
and one more thing
"VOTE FOR PEOPLE WITH EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS, DON'T JUST LOOK AT THE DAMN FAMILY NAME."
To be honest, right now, every argument we make is invalid. Time Magazine called us STUPID? Just face the facts and accept it.
Now what if, in the next elections, the surname of all the candidates and faces are omitted, we can only hear their voice and the words that they speak. Interesting, is it not? But that is just a suggestion of a teen who belong to a STUPID country. Hopefully, in the following years, that STUPID remark given to us might change into something like STRIVING or RISING FROM THE ASHES...but right now we should focus on getting that fantasy and making it into reality...unless all those elected candidates are all bark and no bite.
