Progress Report: Super Mario 3D Land part 1, Ocarina of Time 3D part 2

I've finally made a lot of progress since the first charge of my 3DS.
Yesterday I bought a copy of Super Mario 3D Land and I am loving the beautifully crafted levels.

Super Mario 3D Land part 1:
Looks like Nintendo's still sticking with the plumber that played a key role in the company's development. Super Mario 3D Land is the twelfth installment of the beloved Mario series of games that I first played in my mom's FamiCom (which I later on found out to be the alternate name of NES). Ever since that game, it has spanned numerous counterparts and incarnations in other consoles especially the  DS and the Wii.
The last Mario games that I played in the DS before 3D Land was The New Super Mario Brothers which is another masterpiece, and Super Mario 64 DS. A few years later, we have something that serves as a mix-up of the two games with an application of 3D features which we all know as Super Mario 3D Land.

Like the game's *(damn I lost the game) predecessor Super Mario 3D Land features Mario (also Luigi with some button inputs) facing the challenges of 7 worlds with sub-stages in each (unless there's a special twist near the end). But unlike its predecessors, 3D Land, as its name explicitly says, each stage are in complete free roaming 3D (think Mario 64 but with a more improved camera used by Lakitu).

I've made it through the first and second world as of this afternoon. Each stage are absolutely amazing. Nintendo again proved just how big their treasure of ideas are (a BIG THANKS! to Mr. Shigeru Miyamoto and the people at Nintendo, you guys are amazing!). After all these years of Mario, they still know how to make their fans love him and continuously follow him in his adventures.

World 1 was a breeze even with the new design, but still amazingly fun. World two took a step in difficulty, this time I'm finally feeling the "Nintendo Hard" difficulty . So far the best and smartest level that I went through, with my current progress is World 2-4 where the Flip-Swap platforms return.
Each stages are fast paced with high exploration, and time is no factor since there are pick-up items that increases the time limit scattered on several stages.

Ocarina of Time 3D part 2:

I finally made it through the Deku tree. I thought the Twenty-three is number one! clue was referring to the enemies that hangs above Link, turns out it was below the second spiderweb that blocks another underground level. All I had to make Link do was barrel role with a branch lit in flames.

The first boss wasn't difficult. It's just pure strategy and hit-and-run method of attacking. After the Deku Tree, I finally made it to Hyrule Fields after being given an Ocarina from Saria.
Roaming freely in the Hyrule Fields in real time is amazing. But simply roaming actually got me lost.
I first got to the Lon Lon Ranch where I mindlessly chased for that horse running around which, apparently, was impossible to grab. I finally got to the Hyrule Castle Town after how many in-game days passed. Even Navi was bored.

I roamed around the still-time town, this time I tried helping a little girl chasing her hen (or rooster, whatever). Apparently it was also impossible to grab the said fowl. I also bought a Hylian shield...I don't think it was such a good choice to shed 80 rupees for that item, though because Link doesn't seem to be able to hold it up like the wooden shield in Kokiri forest. After all the troubles in the town, I went straight to the castle where I apparently got caught for a couple of time by the castle guards. Malon gave me an egg (a normal egg apparently, no Manaphy hatched from that egg) before I finally outsmarted those high-end quality Hylian knights who're not able to spot a "mere-child" holding up a chicken and a sword.

In the castle, another classic run-and-hide tactic needed to be employed against the constantly moving guards (oh sweet 90's-era games). After that long stretch of the castle's front garden, I finally met Princess Zelda.
It was a rather quick meeting, Zelda's story was brief but essential to the development of the story nonetheless. Ganondorf was also seen briefly in that segment. The three holders of the three Tri-force all in one place. Just how dangerous is that?
After the brief meeting with Princess Zelda, I was escorted out of the castle by Impa after being taught Zelda's lullaby. It's actually pretty simple even with a six-hole Ocarina in-game in contrast to a real life 4-hole Ocarina.

Next stop was at the Kakariko Village, Death Mountain and Goron City. Right now I can't figure just what kind of melody that large goron wants, I assume I need to return to Kokiri just to learn a forest-like melody.

Pokemon X part 2?

Strangely enough, with all the hype that I had before owning a copy, I've been more focused in Mario and Zelda. I haven't given much attention to Pokemon X. Well all the of the three games that I currently own have extremely beautiful, and long playthroughs. Keeping track on each of them in the long run would be a tedious task. I'm still actually getting the hang of Pokemon X. It's still the same formula but everything else is brand new. I'm still getting goosebumps even at the opening sequence...I mean, who doesn't?

My play-through's will be suspended until next Friday because I still have a week to go before actually starting Christmas break.
It's going to be a painfully long wait because I'm in gaming mode right now. Studying and hitting the books are currently not in my agenda right now but I have to endure it because the saying goes "Play Hard, Study Harder" and that I should and will!

Well then, I didn't expect this to be a long post. But it's good that I'm finally adding more depth and content in my blog in the form of video game progress.
