I'm clumping these two together since my progress in both doesn't speak much yet, that or I just can't remember in great detail.
Super Mario 3D Land part 4:
Right so I've saved Luigi back from Dry Bowser's boney hands back at the last stage of Special World 1. Damn I really miss that skinnier plumber, and he's my current character since then.
I don't know what kind of sinister plot the people at Nintendo had on their drawing boards as they masterfully crafted these Special worlds but all I can say is that the normal worlds were for kittens, these special worlds are built for Mufasa.
My latest struggles mostly came from World 3 and 4. I'm pretty sure I lost 30 lives on just one stage. Getting those damn Star Medals without the Tanooki suit.
Special Worlds 3-5 and 4-1 were two of the most frustrating stages that I've come to so far. Now that I'm out of the normal worlds, I kinda miss the golden tanooki suit which comes every five or 10 deaths.
I'm about to finish Special World 4 but until then I think I'm gonna relieve myself of too much stress brought by that stupid Cosmic clone and the Beat Blocks.
Kid Icarus: Uprising part 1
I finally picked up the thick box of KI:U. The fact that it has a unique appearance than most of the games on Data Blitz's shelves made me even decide on buying it quicker.
My reaction to the game based on its controls were slightly mixed. I'm kind of reminded of Metroid Prime's controls but aiming Samus' plasma gun feels more fluid than aiming the reticle of KI:U.
After a few drills in the practice grounds trying to see which control scheme fits my preferences, I finally decided on Movement: Circle Pad and Reticle: ABXY. I just can't help but feel too concerned every time I fire at the enemies via the R shoulder button because the shoulder buttons were the first to go on the first Nintendo DS that I owned.
Anyway the Sky and Land battles greatly differ from each other but each stage is almost the same formula.
Chapter 1 was more of a tutorial and a well thought of intro to the game.
The Sky battles feel like playing Stage 2 of Gunstar Superheroes with lots of flashy effects.
The Land battles are much more serious and required greater reflexes. The enemies move a lot and when you get past them, it's hard to get the reticle behind so that Pit could also turn around.
But no matter how different these two battles may seem, they always have one similarity, in-game dialogue.
While it's hard enough to focus on the game itself, Pit and Palutena have to throw in clever lines and joke after joke. It's not actually a bad thing and I see it as KI:U's charming point.
These dialogues aren't only limited to the two characters though. The boss of chapter 3, the Three-headed Hewdraw have a nice ring to their voice and lines. Like Pit said it's not often do we fight such nice villains.
So far with my progress in chapter three, I know I have a lot to work on. I was pushed on the brink of death and the funny dialogue was not helping much but making me laugh in the face of death.
Now...should I or should I not buy the circle pad pro?
