Pokemon and Castlevania, gamesick

If there's such thing as homesick then there's definitely being gamesick.

As the semester draws closer to the finals week, my desire to play video games just keep getting higher. Because of that my already impaired focus in academics gets fractured more.
There're a couple of things buzzing in the gaming industry both in the side of producers and fans.

I'm sure most of you reading this blog found in the pit of unpopular and boring contents of the internet should now know about Twitch Plays Pokemon.
A short summary of the growing internet phenomenon would be Pokemon Chaotic Red Massive Multiplayer on one Character version.
As of now, I don't know how the journey of our beloved Red is progressing. One can only pray that his Ratata and Pidgeot go all the way (last I checked was 3 days ago).

There's also this "Fill Facebook with Pokemon" going on in various communities and individuals. I don't know where it all stemmed from but I've played my part (and still actually playing) in this facebook game. The idea is to like a post of someone who've already posted about the game and wait for his comment about which Pokemon type you should post on your wall.

Here's a snip from my profile because I'm too lazy to do the easier way of copy and paste.

I liked the post of one of my friends and he gave me the Dragon type to which picked Dragonair. Speaking of which, do you guys ever feel sorry for Dratini and Dragonair? Both of them are cool blue smooth kawaii-serpent dragon types and suddenly they evolve to an orange dragon that's pretty hard to take seriously. I do like Dragonite's in-game presence when it comes to battling but just seeing the cool looking Dragonair evolve to the silly, Dragon Tales character looking Dragonite kinda ruins the fierce factor of his pre-evolved versions.

Aside from Pokemon, another video game franchise has been placed on the hot seat time and again in the form of Castlevania.

I've been on a hunt for a new game to add on my 3DS collection and I seriously think that Castlevania: Lords of Shadow: Mirror of Fate would be the perfect fit. But apparently it's not entirely the Castlevania that I've come to know and love.
Yes, I've tried Lords of Shadow for the Xbox 360 once and the gameplay is actually superb but I almost forgot that what I was playing was Castlevania and not a mash up of Dante and God of War.

Several blogs focused on the beloved series have commented on the absence of the man who basically molded the golden age of Castlevania - Koji Igarashi.
The timeline, the story, the gameplay and the series' core mechanics since Symphony of the Night roots from Koji Igarashi and his magnificent team.

It's really sad to see the tower built by Castlevania crumble to dust because of a silly and depressing game as Lords of Shadow.

I've watched KnightWing's review about the 3DS game and his comments are spot on.

And we share the same desire of a certain game to be made to at least conclude the Igarashi era of Castlevania, yep we all know it. The Battle of 1999. The battle where Julius Belmont defeated and finally ended Dracula's reign of terror that he had no choice but to become good (Soma Cruz).

THE BATTLE OF 1999 KONAMI, MAKE IT HAPPEN! BRING BACK KOJI IGARASHI!

A lot are to be considered if a new Castlevania especially for the 3DS following the same formula as the previous installments such as Dawn of Sorror, Portrait of Ruin and Order of Ecclesia.

So the setting takes place in 1999, Julius would be in his 20's by then, and the previous heroes from World War II, Jonathan Morris and Charlotte Aulin should at least be part of that game. Hammer might also make an appearance as a young apprentice of some character in the supposed game.

The main character would obviously be Julius Belmont. Let's say he's been under the tutelage of the previous holder of the Vampire Hunter, Jonathan Morris. The heart system would return as well as the sub-weapons, much like that of Rondo of Blood, all while still keeping the mechanics made known later in Symphony of the Night would be the framework of that Castlevania.

A befitting title would be Castlevania: Prelude of Sorrow (following the sequential titles of Aria and Dawn of Sorrow titles) or Castlevania: Belmont's Return, not only will it speak to the return of a Belmont in a long time (last Belmont before Julius was Richter, I assume) it will also allude to the fact that the original format of the beloved series has finally returned.

As for the comments of current Castlevania producer regarding the 2D era of Castlevania gaming

read here!! (from Nichegamer.net)

...well from here it's safe to say that he knew absolutely nothing of Castlevania and the things people love about it. Of course, he's one producer who care about money more than a great game. Which is why, him vandalizing the greatness of Castlevania and turning it to a trash like Lords of Shadow is almost like flipping the finger up to all the fans telling all of us to just shut up and pay his damn production.

The only other thing that will piss me off at this point is his (David Cox) involvement with the untouched story in Igarashi's timeline.
