Started the day with episode 3 of the current season of Game of Thrones. Despite sleeping really late last night, I still managed to beat my alarm clock by fifteen minutes.
During my quest to to defy and destroy boredom I found myself watching Pretty Rhythm: Dear my Future on Animax. After watching a couple of episodes I found myself able to empathize with those AKB48 otaku who'd spend thousands just to get a handshake from them. I've watched a lot of anime of varying genre but it was my first time watching an Idol anime. It's a pretty young genre (in my opinion) and I thought that it was silly how the usual daily lives of idols could be interesting as an anime show.
If it weren't for their flashy costumes, on-stage performance etc. it could simply be passed off as a Slice of Life anime. However, I think that the genre can stand on its own seeing as I (at least I think I did) enjoy Pretty Rhythm as long as it stays on the boundaries of slice of life. When it starts to move on to the crazy 'saving the world' stuff using their worldly performance and heartfelt songs, I don't think I can stand in watch without getting a headache.
Idol Mia Ageha has captivated me and made my kokoro go doki~doki. Their songs are pretty good too. The first opening and ending theme of Dear My Future are pretty catchy.
Anyway, aside from that long interlude of Pretty Rhythm I got to play with my nephew for a long time today. I even used him as a fun weight during my exercise hopping up and down on the first step of the stairs. He seems to like it so it's a win-win situation for both of us. He laughs while I sweat, and that's really cute of him.
I'm still far from going toe to toe with Ganon and Ganondorf in Ocarina of Time. But to quell my longing for adventure I went on ahead with A Link Between Worlds and ended up finishing it first before Ocarina of Time.
I know I'm not mistaken when I say A Link Between Worlds is among the easy titles of the Zelda franchise. While it's every bit fulfilling and enjoyable, there's just something missing in the game that gives off an extremely easy and short adventure. Sure the individual dungeons have their frustrating challenges and bosses but overall, I think the game was a little too easy.
Difficulty aside, the new mechanic introduced in this game was a solid hit that establishes the game as another landmark Zelda title in its console. I love how the producers of the game decided on returning the analog movement in contrast to the touch-screen movement found in Phantom Hourglass.
The story was another great thing in this game. While it still kept the same good ol' formula that we all know and love in the Zelda franchise, it gave us another world to explore just as the Merge mechanic gave the gamers another depth of exploration, and a unique story to tell that didn't focus on Link and Zelda.
I already suspected on the get-go that Princess Hilda wasn't someone that we are led to believe.
Having two kind princesses in one game sounds all too suspicious. Besides, if Yuga was the only enemy in the game it looks too plain and simple. The deception of Princess Hilda was predictable but how far she was willing to go still surprised me. It should be noted that she wasn't all that bad though. She just wanted her own world to be at peace much like the current state of Hyrule, and for late atonement by the end of the game, she got what she wished for thanks to Link and Zelda.
Overall, A Link Between Worlds is a solid entry to the Zelda franchise and a great addition to 3DS's list of games.
I'll make a better, in-depth review maybe tomorrow.
