The Water Temple and Himedere Ruto
Forget about what I said regarding the Water Temple being more elegant and relaxing than the Fire Temple in Ocarina of Time. While I do love the color blue, I'm on the verge of hating it because of the frustrating level design.
Yes, it's the Zelda series' charm, challenging dungeon designs with rewarding and worthwhile adventures but to a person with limited patience, only my nephew's presence is keeping me from verbally abusing my 3DS. Maybe it's just me but it took me quite a while to figure out how to piece through the rooms of the dungeon to achieve the necessary objectives in sequential order.
Fortunately, the presence of two characters in the game quelled my rage and turned it into absolute interest.
The first one of course is the grown up princess of the Zora's, Princess Ruto. I love how, even with little screen time, her character evolved from a tsundere to a himedere within the 7 year timeskip.
(apologies for the low quality pictures, I do hope Nintendo would make screenshots an internal feature of the 3DS and other consoles to come)
The other character which intrigued me was Dark Link. I suppose I had the same sentiments the moment I entered that one large empty room with nothing but foot level water reflecting one big square wall and a withered tree.
The moment I entered the room, something was definitely off. It was quite random because it suddenly diverted from the normal design of the dungeon, but the moment I passed by the withered tree I immediately stopped trying to wonder about the room because when I turned around, there was a figure standing beside the tree. My first thought was Sheikh, then Ruto but when I approached the figure, oh my oh my oh my it's Dark Link.
The battle was brief but really thrilling and fun.
I've played Link for so long, why not be given the opportunity to fight myself? Dark Link was the answer, and it was a great answer.
My only question is that Dark Link has been a prevailing character in the Zelda-verse, why, then, on the first encounter he was given little to no background. Sure we get the picture that he's Link's dark side or shadow but there's no real explanation for his existence. But it makes me hope more than worry because I'm sure that's not going to be the last encounter with Dark Link. A character with so many highlights about his character shouldn't be let off so easily without both a good background and a purpose. Otherwise, I'd be really disappointed much like what I felt after the 21-1 yesterday.
I've gone full Zelda retard again. This time, I'm going to make sure that I save both time periods in Hyrule and both worlds of Hyrule and Lorule in my two Zelda titles.
While serving as Hyrules, um, Green Knight I also search for new 3DS titles part time. Most of the upcoming titles seem promising most especially Super Smash Bros. 3DS. Not only will it be another installment of the famed Nintendo Battle Royale, it'll be a first in a handheld console. Other titles that I've set my eyes on are Bravely Default and the other currently available Mario titles.
I still can't believe I allowed myself to waste 3000 on Yoshi's New Island and Mirror of Fate. First decision I make about my gaming run during my vacation really didn't go well.
On to anime
Why is it that when vacation starts, I suddenly slow down on watching anime? While I've progressed well with Canaan during hell week which started two weeks ago, I found myself unable to continue the series right at the beginning of vacation.
I have started watching some anime aired just last season. Noragami has caught my interest not because I was interested in the story. I read the plot synopsis after the first few episodes. The thing that drew me in immediately was Hiroshi Kamiya.
I've watched too many anime with him voicing the main protagonist to know that whichever anime that he's involved, it's definitely going to be a good one.
I plan to start watching Nisekoi after it finishes airing and hopefully I'd be able to follow Mekaku City Actors from beginning to end.
On a side note
The first episode of the fourth season of the Game of Thrones aired today. I haven't watched it yet but hopefully it'll be filled with juicy bits.

Tsundere, pre-timeskip |
Himedere post-timeskip...that look on Link's face though |
