Game Boy Color after 14 years

Believe it or not the people who always tell me to moderate my gaming are also the people who influenced me into playing games, my parents.
I started playing games when I was three years old with my mother's NES, the only game being Super Mario Bros., but perhaps the gaming console that drew me in to gaming was the Game Boy. The Game Boy was the ancestor to Nintendo's long line of handheld gaming consoles and the spiritual successor to the Game and Watch. But like my mom's NES (alright, it's called FamiCom in the Phil. since it's the NA version) the family's first ever Game Boy is forever lost in the dark corners of our house.
Next in Nintendo's Game Boy franchise was Game Boy Color, because adding light to the otherwise grey world of Mario is a happy move.

I had two Game Boy Colors when I was kid. The first one was shared between my sister and I. It didn't turn out too well for that because we fought over it (I was around four, she was nine) and our dad ended up throwing it into the ground (he threw it to the ground). My second Game Boy Color came from my aunt Cia which I am now going to talk about (or write about...yeah).

My Game Boy Color is the kiwi variant of the basic colors editions.

Still works?
- Yes it does.

Buttons
- The buttons aren't as crisp as they are brand new. The D-Pad needs to be pressed hard for it to work. The A and B buttons still have the "click" when pushed. They still work fine even with a soft press but they don't respond well to button mashing. There's also nothing wrong with the START and SELECT buttons.

 Sound
Microphone jack still works but the output is too soft. The speakers crack most of the time but even the slightest sfx of Mario jumping can still be heard.

Screen
The screen is obscured from the inside which can be distracting to most action and platforming games.

Gameplay
My saved data from Pokemon is still intact. I think the last time I played Pokemon Blue version using the system was way back during elementary when I needed a taste of old school during the release of Pokemon Diamond and Pearl versions. Mario titles don't play well on the system anymore because of the dust on the inside of the screen. You still need daylight or artificial lighting to fully enjoy the system.

My Favorite Games
I have five favorite games that were for the Game Boy Color (two of these games are long gone now). These are Pokemon Blue version, Super Mario Land, Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins, Wario Land II and Pokemon Silver version.
The Wario Land II title was just something my mom found the cartridge under a sofa my grandmother was selling at the time. It ended up being one of the best games I played on the system, then I sold it to one of my mom's friend for 100 PhP. I don't know what crossed my mind then, but right now I am regretting it.

The Pokemon Silver version was a Pokemon title I treasured more than the Blue version because it was a whole new experience and adventure for me. Since my sister always owned the Blue version, I felt like Silver was my forte but then it got stolen (along with my first Game Boy Advance SP).
