Goodbye Daze

This is a rushed entry even if it actually took me a whole week to craft. I was too preoccupied with academics anyway so I got that going for a strong excuse. And a long entry with too much remembering of the four month R&R is really giving me heartaches. See, I already miss my bed back home. Anyway, it's rushed, incomplete (I just can't bear to add more pictures, please) and basically all about me which is a complete waste of time to read unless I am a person of interest to anyone. That would be great, though, to be one of the things to go through a person's mind each day.

Anyway, drama aside (I've been watching too much Breaking Bad), here's the real intro:

When the University approved the calendar shift moving the start of a new academic year from June to August the summer vacation got a two-month extension. At first, I thought four months was too long but now that I'm going back to Zuellni* tomorrow four months of R&R seemed to have passed by too fast. Still, a lot has happened both in personal and family activities. I've also unlocked a lot of achievements just by lowering the bar and jumping on it a few times.

Here's the breakdown of the 127 days of summer vacation:
37 days/889 hours - spent sleeping. On average, I have 7 hours of sleep every day from 3 am to 10 am.
Yes, yes I know sleep is for the weak, but then again I don't want to end up feeling groggy and vulnerable to the influence of the dark forces the next day.

1 day - spent watching anime. Well that's a disappointment on my standards. I only considered 20 minutes per episode (excluding the opening and ending sequence, and preview if there are any) for the 6 anime series that I've watched.
The anime series that I watched this vacation were:

Noragami
no doubt, Noragami was the best this vacation
Cencoroll
It takes the cake for being weird the most, but it's a very likable weird and I can't wait for Cencoroll 2. The cast also did a wonderful voice work, Kana Hanazawa's voice is still beautifully and angelically hypnotizing as ever. It's also nice to hear Hiro Shimono's voice in a serious character, in contrast to most of his humorous roles.

Mekakucity Actors
The adaptation was a let down in many ways. But perhaps it was my hype before it even aired being the reason why I felt so disappointed. Twelve episodes is just too short for Kagerou Daze, plus SHAFT added in too much of their magic. Maybe it worked in Monogatari and PMMM, but it didn't in Kagerou Daze.
Kikou Shoujo wa Kizutsukanai
Unbreakable Machine-doll had a lot of amazing action scenes. The main character is too annoyingly persistent, though but, again, it's nice to hear Hiro Shimono in a serious role. Yaya is the best character in the series, and wherever she is it's bound to be interesting.
Kill la Kill
What more can you expect from the people previously involved with Gainax? Kill la Kill has a lot of unique and wacky ideas that are really absurd and hard to take seriously but still you find yourself captivated by its characters and their stories. It can get annoying most of the times, and I believe that it's one of this anime's charming points. The last two arcs brought the anime to greatness, but it's still hard not to compare this with its story-wise unrelated ancestor Gurren Lagann.
Mikakunin de Shinkoukei
Engaged to the Unidentified is a pretty normal Rom-Com with perfect servings of moe, siscon, drama, and mystery. The only thing that takes the anime from being completely ordinary is the "Unidentified" part found in Hakuya, Mashiro and other related secondary characters. But the fact that the anime didn't dwell on it too much, stretching the mystery so that each episode could produce a small spark of curiosity was a weak point. I still enjoyed the anime and it ranks as one of the best I've watched this year, so far. The most rewarding part and strongest point of this anime are the character developments, interactions and relationships. It has extremely lovable characters, and each episode what I constantly wanted to see was Benio in pursuit of Mashiro.

8 days - spent playing video games. I played a total of 10 3DS games this vacation completing five of them.
Here's the time table for the titles I played:

2 days - spent watching television series.
I watched the remainder of The Big Bang Theory, season 4 of the Game of Thrones, laughed my lungs out with Brooklyn Nine-Nine, and drowned myself in the engaging story of Breaking Bad. I'm currently on the finale of the third season.

4 days - spent in attending Ozine Fest 2014, and going to Kamay ni Hesus. This includes travel time and overnight stay at my dorm.
This year's Ozine Fest was both an improvement and decline from the past Ozine Fests. While the venue upgraded, the overall event didn't. Read more here.
The experience we had at Kamay ni Hesus would've been much better if I actually slept the night before. Instead I was groggy and slept through the mass we attended. But I was still able to climb up the stairs leading up to the big statue of Jesus and a majestic view of the landscape below stretching far into the mountains, so I had that going for me which is nice.

4 days - spent on outings. Every first Friday of the month we go out to wherever the ends of the Earth may bring us, but most of the time we go to Olongapo City.

5 days - spent blogging. I made 117 posts on this blog over the past four months, and considering my easily-distracted nature let's just say I spent an average of an hour for every post.

4 days - spent attending birthdays. The dates were April 21, May 13, July 9 and July 28. These celebrations didn't really run throughout the whole day but these were the most notable during those days.
This is my birthday gift to my nephew. It's actually the first ever gift I gave him, the supposed first gift I intended to give (a traditional Japanese toy set) ended up going into my drawers because, well, I like them (ha!). It is actually pretty hard to play a kendama.
Anyway, I got him a Fennekin, well actually at first I wanted it but since I gotta be a good otaku uncle to the little kid, anyway I got him a Fennekin because my starter Pokemon in Kalos was, yep you've guessed it, a Fennekin. My nephew liked it a lot, and his smile while hugging his "bibi" was more than rewarding for me.

10 days - spent updating my stories on Wattpad. Say I spent about half a day writing a new chapter on Wattpad, including all my unpublished stories, I most likely spent about 10 days.

7 days - spent in the Holy Week. Yes, I know it's called Holy Week but I participated in the holy celebrations starting Maundy Thursday to Easter Sunday. But let's just say the whole catholic event lasted for seven days on my part.

7 days - spent going out, running errands with my mom and watching movies. Every time mom and I plan to watch a good movie, she always have to sneak in a few errands while we're at it. The movies were (in order): Captain America: The Winter Soldier, The Amazing Spider-Man 2, X-Men: Days of Future Past, Maleficent, My Illegal Wife, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, and the Guardians of the Galaxy.
This vacation was a total Marvel festival.  Now that Phase 2 of Marvel's Cinematic Universe is nearing its climax, ranking the four movies before Avengers 2 would be easier:

1. Captain America: The Winter Soldier
2. Guardians of the Galaxy
3. Iron Man 3
4. Thor: The Dark World

I'm not quite seeing how Age of Ultron would work for a sequel of the Avengers since Tony Stark's involvement in-universe obviously diminished unlike his recurring appearance way back Phase 1. Well, I'm no expert in comic books, but then again comic-to-movies like these tend to bend the original materials a bit so I'm thinking Marvel is up for a big surprise one way or another.

42 days - spent doing other things. I honestly can't remember what else I did during the summer break. Besides, the info above aren't really accurate. Some overlap with each other, some weren't really done for the whole day, etc. Bottom line, I enjoyed it even if I didn't really do much to improve whatever I see in myself. I wrote stories, translated a few songs for the ocarina, rescued three princesses, two of them twice (Princess Toadstool, Princess Zelda and Princess Hilda for those who are curious), played a lot with my nephew. It was a whole lot of fun, even if now I look back at those four months and think how quick (not short) it all was.
