There comes a time when a boy eventually grows up into a man, and by that time he will be brave enough to play Resident Evil...but that might just be me.
Oh yes, I finally completed the campaign mode of Revelations. It took me a total of fifteen hours to complete, way above the average gameplay of seven hours but hey it is my first time with the survival-horror genre so I guess that should excuse my baby-mode gameplay.
Last time I played Resident Evil: Revelations was two months ago. I never fully dedicated my time to the game since I had Kid Icarus: Uprising, Bravely Default and RF4 on my list of incomplete games. Last week, though, when I finally raged quit on RF4's Rune Prana I moved on to Revelations. My progress then was at Episode 6: Cat and Mouse. I powered through the last half of the game with fear as my motivation, and paranoia as my determination. Since the first encounter with Rachael on Episode 4, the rest of the bosses and mini-bosses of the game weren't as frightening, however jump scares still get me from time to time.
The easiest boss fight for me was against Draghignazzo since it's a fight in a closed room with only Jill and Parker against the grandpa Ooze. Its attacks were surprisingly easy to dodge considering my inexperience when it comes to no-lockon shooting and maneuvering (the Circle Pad Pro is finally doing its job), plus there were a lot of ammo in the area minimizing the difficulty.

But the easy boss fight might just be the game's way of telling the gamer that the 'real' survival part of the game is just starting. Episode 7 was most likely the shortest part of the game where I spent the most time with. The first part of the episode required Jill and Parker to go to deck to distract the Regia Solis from turning the ship, all the Ooze inside it, Jill, Parker and Raymond into roast fish feeds. My struggle during the first part was lack of ammo because I spent it all on a reanimated Rachael who clearly has a crush on Jill. I killed her graciously this time, she never got close to Jill. Turns out a lot of damn Hunters were waiting at the deck to decimate Jill and Parker. I had to explore half of the ship collecting ammo, but that still didn't do anything for me. It wasn't until I got the Magnum Python and some ammo for it when I one-hit killed all Hunters that went against me. So yeah, done with the first part. I thought everything should be well by then but oh no, no no, no.
The second part was a race against time - one of the few videogame elements that I hate the most. This episode was an absolute tease and stress. My current weapons equipped here were the Magnum Python, a Machine Gun and the Windham Shotgun, all with less than 10 bullets. I have five minutes to activate the plane before the Regia Solis roasts the ship. The first three minutes is spent running towards the elevator to get to the control room, along the way are countless enemies and countless supplies. If I stop for just a few seconds to collect ammunition the Ooze and Hunters will get to me, plus Parker wasn't being a supportive partner so I had no choice but to run along.

Once we got to the elevator, oh look who's waiting for us it's F*CKING RACHAEL AGAIN. With only two minutes to spare, I tried to decimate Rachael Ooze which I was able to do but it took a toll on my ammunition and the time. But still I managed to rush downstairs until a DAMN SCAGDEAD APPEARED FROM NOWHERE. So yeah, time ran out and the fishes got served Roast Jill, Roast Parker and Roast Raymond along with all the Ooze salad and Ooze juice.
It wasn't until my third try when I finally learned that it's better to evade Rachael than take her head on. I was able to evade her, go down the ladder and was about to approach the Scagdead when Rachael f*cking jumped from the railings, damnit. I had no choice, then, but to decimate her with all my ammo. I just had to rely with my evasion skills against the Scagdead, and fortunately I got through. Now on to the next hall where...RACHAEL IS BACK, WTF!? There's a limit to how much love you can give, but come on I already killed you three times, enough is enough. Rachael and two other Oozes were at the last hall towards the control room. I was out of Herbs by this time so it was desperation mode, I just continuously toggled the circle pad until I got through, and thankfully I made it with only six seconds to spare and one hit on my life left.
Episode 8 was fun and frustrating in many ways. Frustration came from the episode's swimming part. It's just like Water-worlds in Mario, maneuvering is slippery, avoiding enemies is a struggle and this time you need oxygen. It took me some time to find the right passage to the room where the Casino is. The fun part came from Chris and Jessica's rail shooter-like part in the episode. After this, the ol' couple is back together, it's finally Chris and Jill again, although nothing really changed since partner Chris was like the log Parker was when I needed the firepower support the most.
