I haven't finished watching Kill la Kill yet but the series got me completely hooked on the story and its wackiness. It's like the product of mixing the obscenity of PSG, the wackiness of FLCL and Kyousougiga, and the action-packed Gurren Lagann. The PSG, TTGL and FLCL parts doesn't come as a surprise though since the production studio of Kill la Kill, Trigger Inc., were made by former animators of Gainax.
I'm at episode 19 now. I ran a watchathon this afternoon starting from episode 14. The Four Devas, Naturals Election and Battlefield Trip arcs were all good but the real bloody fun all condensed here in the Grand Cultural and Sports Festival.
The sudden turn-ip (alright, enough with that stupid pun) of events in episode seventeen and eighteen pumped up all the good things in the anime and finally had an engaging story, though a little too late.
What I'm loving right now is the bloody rain Satsuki made out of her mother.
Like this:
And this:
Brutal, but not enough:
Don't worry, mother Kiryuin survives this. I'm not sure what happens to her on the following episodes, though. I'm bouncing from Breaking Bad and Kill la Kill right now. Both are interesting and entertaining, but apparently both are also time consuming.
