Bayonetta Part 4: Platinum Blitz

Warning: This post contains mild nudity.
I said 'Platinum Blitz' not 'Platinum Berlitz'!
I ran a 6-hour marathon of Bayonetta last night and I've never been so satisfied with a headache afterwards.
Before anything else, here's a little something outside of my main gameplay. I always replay some of the early chapters to get me warmed up for the next in progression. The first time around in any chapter is indeed difficult, at least for me, but several more tries especially with a longer health bar and some accessories eases up the difficulty and I get better at the same time. Each chapter I repeat I always try my best landing combos and dodging enemy attacks because as far as I know those two are more crucial than completion time.
Here I got a gold by repeatedly running around the battlefield in panther mode sneaking small hits before chaining into a combo it wasn't such a good tactic but at least, hey, a gold!
I also did the same in a much longer chapter, Vigrid, City of Deja vu but it took a toll in my time. And apparently using healing items or just items in general counts as deaths. Why? Just why?
Seriously, getting Pure Platinum means clearing all the verses in each chapter within the maximum allowable time to get a Pure Plat. medal while landing insane combos and not getting hit. Basically it's what you'd call a perfect run, and there are 17 chapters, watto da pakku?!
Anyway on to the main report:
My current progress in Bayonetta puts me at the gates of Chapter XI: The Cardinal Virtue of Justice. So how was my progress in chapters 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10? Well...

Chapter VI: The Gates of Paradise was nothing close to feeling like you're really on the edge of where it claims to be. This chapter focused on Bayonetta and Cereza (the little on from Chapter II).
the highlight of the chapter, oh joy indeed
The first half of the chapter was Bayonetta chasing after the little one while the second half was Bayonetta protecting Cereza. The second half was a little more enjoyable than the first mainly because of Cereza's involvement.
The first half of the chapter had me struggling in one area where two pairs of Grace and Glory dominated one verse. Really, Grace and Glory, two angelic beings with claws of fire and lightning as well as the blessing of the programmers to use unli-combo (well, not really unli). There's nothing graceful and glorious about those damn twins, nothing! Anyway, I suffered all of my deaths at the hands of the two pairs. I got through with just an inch of green left on the health bar but heck Grace and Glory are insane, at least the hardest part of the chapter was over.
The second half of the chapter sees Bayonetta in an uneasy position of being Cereza's "Mummy". According to the story so far, Bayonetta gets whispers from a familiar voice saying that Cereza is important to Bayonetta's future. So, wanting to know what 'he' means, Bayonetta reluctantly spends time with the girl whom, at the same time, is also being pursued by Angels.

Adding an AI following you around during the second half of the chapter slowed the pace down while keeping the action the way it usually is but as an added challenge Bayonetta cannot attack the angels since they are in a different layer. I had a hard time with this mainly because I had no Idea how to get rid of the angels and protect Cereza at the same time. It took about half my health to realize that the broken lamp posts had some purpose and that they could harm the angels, heh, who knew amirite?
Cereza walks insanely slow. I dunno what happened but back in the first half she was strolling so fast when Bayonetta gets a glimpse of her they're always in opposite ends of the area so why, why in the Trinity of Realities is she so dang slow!? Still, I really like the level design of this stage, it departs from hack-and-slash for a while and focuses more on protecting Cereza, escaping enemies and smart use of the environment especially in the tunnel where Bayonetta and Cereza are being chased by a Beloved.
From Vigrid the two enter a portal to Paradiso. Bayonetta can now respond to the attacks of the angels so it's major ass kicking time. Bayonetta fights two minor bosses in succession right after their arrival in Paradiso.
The first one is against the Beloved who got stuck at the opening of the tunnel. The fight with this guy was a little humorous because, well, he fell in love with Cereza...pedophile. After the Climax we get a nice surprise - two Bayonettas (there are actually three of them, tee-hee). The copy was uncanny it basically got the attitude down to her very scent perfectly copied even Cereza couldn't tell that the one carrying her was fake, its only distinction being the halo above her head. This copy is the angel for the second mini-boss fight and the last on this chapter, and hubba-hubba that angel's sexy in her angelic form.
Now that is an enemy I don't mind keep fighting. Before the two engaged in an intense cat fight, the two Bayonetta's had a dance off.
Of course, we know who the obvious winner of that, right?
After the fight Bayonetta and Cereza goes back to the human world and they find themselves in an airbase. A cutscene with Luka plays and the chapter closes.

I got a stone statue award for this, that doesn't really come as a surprise now does it?

Chapter VII: The Cardinal Virtue of Temperance was another chapter, much like the fourth one, solely dedicated to an epic boss fight this time against an angel who have tentacles for fingers, Temperantia.
This boss fight was surprisingly a lot easier compared to the one against Fortitudo, I simply employed hack-and-slash and hit-and-run tactics. The minimal QTEs in this chapter also helped in being a more glorious boss fight. Like Fortitudo this chapter has three parts, one for each of its arms and the body. In a way this is less intense than the one with Fortitudo but it has more humor in it.
...and now, presenting Makeovers with Sassy Bayonetta!
10/10, would dominate
And hey, I got a Silver award on my first try, heck yeah!!

Chapter VIII: Route 666, if I were to name one extremely fast paced chapter in Bayonetta it has to be this one. Bayonetta along with Cereza and Luka, who are both inside a tank, are on a bridge being pursued by angels. Bayonetta deals with the angels in order to grant safe passage to the two but here's the catch - the majority of this chapter is played riding a motorcycle. So we also got a shooter chapter in Bayonetta, excellent! Verses 3 and 4 comprises the majority of the chapter.
I just feel like I have to note this, this is Bayonetta's unique torture attack for the Joy's, a wooden horse

Verse 3 is an on-the-road shoot out against a new enemy, Irenic. Sigh, an angel who doesn't follow traffic regulations, how...Irenic, heh, see what I did there?
I didn't know what I was doing, again, half the time because at some points of the verse Irenic is in front of me so I shoot him then on the next its far behind, then he's back in front of me again. I was clueless of whether or not I was making progress or not because the bridge didn't look like it was running out of concrete then the results of verse 3 appeared on the side. So I was indeed making progress but what was verse 4 all about? Well, dodging, a lot of it.
Thanks to Bayonetta and the angels' commotion on the bridge it started to collapse so as we race against the collapsing bridges to get to the other side we also have to mind where Bayonetta lands. One miscalculation and we end up restarting the verse. This came as a little frustrating because I found it really stupid for the majority of the damage I took in this chapter to come from falling off the pit, I mean c'mon I was doing so well and my award takes a toll because I fell, FTS.
The last verse for this chapter was against three portable Beloveds, cause their smaller and faster, called Braves. I didn't have much trouble against the three, my trusty Shuraba did all the work in pure aggressive hack-and-slash.
and here ends my not-stone award streak
Chapter IX: Paradiso - A Remembrance of Time is easily one of the most confusing chapters in the game. While the environment is a little peaceful platforming here goes all out in toying with spatial awareness. Thanks to the level design I couldn't tell if everything was on the right orientation or upside down.
that clock looks familiar.,,
I was ready to barf anytime. There were plenty of platforming in this chapter with near transparent platform, like c'mon what's the point if you can't see them? I fell a lot and had to climb all the way back to the top while fighting the vertigo. After a while of confusing platforming we have another insta-kill run for your life moment, a sphere chases after you as if you stole an idol. The ongoing theme of this chapter was collecting keys to access a new area, and balls, a lot of big balls. Verse 5 gave me the most trouble collecting the key needed to progress through the chapter because that big ball destroyed it into five pieces. My first time collecting the pieces I focused on the chests and not the enemies that spawned from the last three, that was a wrong move. So naturally I died, what a noob, but at least I got the second try down and ended with a silver medal.
A lot of confusing platforming again this time with much farther safe zones and big balls ready to slam you after the slightest of miscalculations. When I have made it out alive with some considerable life left a new angel is introduced, Kinship, and true to its name it is indeed a Fa-Kinship. The weak point of this angel is the red orb in the middle of its, um, deck? It's exposed and vulnerable to a barrage of attacks but the offside here the space is so small dodging takes a lot of effort, and you can't just mindlessly dodge because one wrong move and you fall off the pit.
Their only saving grace to get out of a barrage of attacks are their tentacles, oh yes, and their missiles. Their missiles are incredibly accurate in homing it makes me want to question the basic order and laws of Paradiso. Bottomline, those guys...WERE.ANNOYING.
There's a lot more platforming afterwards leading on to the boss of this chapter, a Golem.
The boss fight was easy and pales in comparison compared to the other boss fights from other chapters but it does have the distinction of needing to activate Witch Time to deal some serious damage, otherwise the best that could be done under normal circumstances are small hits that won't transition to combos because of its armor covering the core. Bayonetta's climax in this boss fight was especially satisfying, Golem Volleyball!
if ever Bayonetta gets a Super Smash Bros. debut this should be her Final Smash, Master Hand would be put to shame

And the results for this chapter:
...sigh
I'll save Chapter X: Paradiso - A Sea of Stars later, I need to go over it again to get more caps.
