Platinum Blaze

The title does not make sense. I was planning on 'Platinum Blitz' but that title was already taken for a completely different post. So 'Blaze', it doesn't really translate to 'fast' or 'speedy' but just stick your tongue out and pronounce the word then you get something close to blitz.
oh not again. I said 'Blaze' not 'Berlitz'!
Kotaku recently published an article about the status of Club Nintendo. It's not much of a good news to members since Nintendo is closing the program in favor of a new loyalty program to be introduced some time later in the year. As for me, well I remained impartial at first since I wasn't a member and I never used any of the codes that I got for the games that I collected. But when I read their article the free Flipnote Studio 3D for members kinda drew me in so I guess why not register while the program lives?
My current 3DS library contains sixteen games while my Wii U gallery has six games, so I have 22 in total. While some of those games didn't have codes for some reasons (eg. release version is not US) I still managed to reach Platinum membership all in one day. It helped that I also kept the box of my 3DS which has the Club Nintendo code giving 160 coins.
The items offered were not that exciting really (greeting cards, posters) so I looked up the games offered then I saw the original The Legend of Zelda for the NES for 200 coins. I guess that's a good deal. Super Metroid was also up for grabs but it was only offered for the Wii U, and since we all know I'm going back to Zuellni later this day I won't be able to play it anyway.
I got a good feel of how the original Zelda would play all thanks to the Masterpieces mode of Smash 4 Wii U. I don't know what I've been doing whenever I was playing Smash but for some reason I only found it last night.
The Masterpieces mode is a gallery of 2-4 minute trials/demos (without the option to save the progress) of select classic Nintendo games from the 1980's to the 1990's. The controls weren't as crisp and precise as I was expecting for the Wii U, or maybe my hands were just trembling over the excitement that I felt when I got to this part of the first Zelda:
Sheer gaming nostalgia (even if I never played the first Zelda when I was a kid), I tell you.
Hopefully, it's a little different for the 3DS.
So, I guess that's it for this sembreak. Tomorrow will be the trip back to Zuellni, and the day after will be the start of the new semester.
Now if you'll excuse me I need to find a corner to lament on.
