Majora's Mask 3D Part 1: Dawn of the First Day...again?

It's finally here, Part 1 of my Majora's Mask 3D playhthrough.
So, ready?

Tattletale of the Hero and the Skull kid (dang, I really forced this subtitle)
Majora's Mask is the direct sequel to Ocarina of Time in the child timeline which branches out to the Twilight Era after the hero defeats Ganon in the adult timeline. In the original timeline Link, together with Epona, leaves Hyrule in search of his special and invaluable friend, Navi. His journey then leads him into a forest where he is ambushed by two fairies, and a Skull kid wearing a creepy mask. The trio steals Link's Ocarina (the Ocarina of Time) and rides off with Epona.
Link chases after the trio eventually catching up to them but Epona was nowhere to be seen. Skull kid, annoyed by Link's perseverance, curses Link turning him into a Deku Scrub (an adorable one).
The Skull kid escapes but the little sh*t forgot about one of his fairy companions, Tatl, who is then forced to join Link in order to reunite with her brother, Tael.
Great, great, greeee~eeat, another fairy companion. Yeeeeepeeeeee. Soooo~o happy. Why??? Just why??
Eh, anyway after a few hours of playing the game I found Tatl to be more likable than Navi, and I actually enjoy the company of a fairy companion this time. But we'll get to that in a bit.

"You've met with a terrible fate, haven't you"
I know I've said this a lot of times now that you'd mistake me for a broken LP but let me reiterate, Deku Link is absolutely adorable, but he sucks...a little. As a Deku Scrub, Link's movement is incredibly slow. What he calls running I call a leisurely walk to Lon Lon Ranch. His main means of offense is a spin attack which is weak but does damage to everything around him. Later in this part, when he meets the Great Fairy, Link receives a magic meter which allows him to blow a bubble...a bubble. Deku Link's other move involves him diving in a Deku Flower allowing him to glide in order to reach platforms that would otherwise be difficult to reach by simply jumping. The first area of the game, as Deku Link, made it clear that diving is important. There weren't any enemies to speak of, it's just pure platforming.
I suffered at least two "accidental falls" on my way to the other side of the area where Link and Tatl were greeted by a dead Deku Scrub.
Way to pump up the creepy atmosphere so early in the game, Mr. Aonuma and his team really nailed a crazy twist to the adventurous atmosphere of Zelda.
The next area looks like a sewer where Link has to swim a small gap to get to the other side. The only problem is Deku Scrubs can't swim, but they can hop on water. As a Deku Scrub, Link is given the ability to hop on water for at most 5 times allowing him to travel a small distance. Farther up from the sewer was the base of the Clock Tower where Link and Tatl meet the Happy Mask Salesman.

The creepy salesman seems to harbor a vast knowledge of the current events unfolding but he doesn't look dangerous to anyone, if anything he reminds me of Linebeck from Phantom Hourglass (only a bit more aggressive). He informs Link of a possible apocalyptic event happening in three days if he doesn't get the mask back from Skull Kid. Anxious, he makes a bargain with Link: If he manages to get the mask back the Happy Mask Salesman will return him to his original form, provided he also retrieves the Ocarina of Time. Before entering Termina, the Happy Mask Salesman also gives Link a Bomber's Notebook, claiming he has no use for it and it may serve Link better.
From there, Link's journey to save Termina begins.

The First  Final Three Days
Clock Town serves as this Zelda title's main town pretty much like Hyrule Castle Town in Ocarina of Time, but it's obviously bigger and has more points of interest. The ironic part of all these is that while you can explore as much as you like the fact that there's a countdown displayed at the screen ticking down the time left before the moon devastates the world takes away any sense of "enjoying the moment" because there's obviously no time to fool around. And I actually like it! The impending disaster looking at my very trembling soul as I get from South Clock Town to any of the other cardinal directions is stressful, but I like how the tension slowly builds up. Doing a barrel roll, or in this case spinning to add to Deku Link's laughable walking speed never felt so important.
Link spends the first last three days of Termina attempting to reach Skull Kid, however several obstacles block his path. Tatl talks Link into meeting the Great Fairy first knowing that she has far greater power than what the Skull Kid could ever possess. On the way to the Great Fairy's cave, I met this nightmare fuel manchild.
I knew Tingle originated in Majora's Mask but dang nabbit was he way more decent looking in Wind Waker. Tingle's very character and purpose in the game originated in this game and that is to provide Link with detailed maps (for a price, of course). Right behind him was the Great Fairy's cave where Link and Tatl finds her fragmented. The Great Fairy tells Link what the Skull Kid did to her and requests that he find the fairy's missing fragment. Great, just great. Naturally I didn't know where to look so I went the extra mile (maybe literally) and rounded the whole Clock Town until I ended up at the Laundry Pool where, thankfully, the fairy fragment is gently frolicking above the water. Apparently, I didn't look hard enough to actually see an alley going there at the south part. Once I got the fairy fragment I skedaddled back to the Great Fairy making her whole again. As a reward she gave Link a magic bar which allows him to shoot bubbles as a Deku Scrub...bubbles.
My initial reaction to blowing bubbles was a little meh because, well, blowing bubbles are in fact a little meh however it does give Deku Link an edge against lesser enemies and it also serves as Deku Link's main means of hitting ranged targets. Also for some reason, now that Link can blow bubbles, Tingle is also now riding a balloon. Yeah, he obviously wants us to blow him one (wai- what?!)
The next objective is given as a tip by the Great Fairy regarding the children of the town.
This is where the Bomber's Notebook comes into play. Earlier in the game, the Happy Mask Salesman gives Link a Bomber's Notebook. This contains all of the side quests available based on the progression of the three days. However, side quests aside (heh) the Bomber's Notebook is first used as Link's entry to the Bombers. These guys are the energetic and ignorant children of Termina who try to bring happiness to the people who'll die in three days' time. They also guard the entrance to the Astral Observatory, which is where Link needs to be in order to progress through the events of the first three days. In order to get there, Link must know the pass code and in order to know what the pass code is he must be a member of the Bombers, and to be a member he must find all of the Bombers hiding in town before the dawn of the next day.
I spent the most time searching for this little ships failing once and eventually succeeding sometime on the third day. Just great! This is where all the stress starts to rampage in on me. I clearly have no time to dilly dally around and to make everything even worse I had to talk to the Scarecrow at the Observatory. I.TALKED.TO.THE.SCARECROW. And for some idiotic mind fart I agreed to dance with him skipping ahead a few more hours. Once I got to the top of the observatory, I wasted no more time in looking at Skull Kid, and the gigantic face of the friggin' moon as a Moon's Tear falls to the outside.
Now that I've acquired that crystallized manifestation of the moon's emotions I can finally get the deed of the Deku Flower back in South Clock Town. It just so happens that I literally had five in game minutes to ride the Deku Flower, land on the platform leading to the top of the Clock Tower and finally meet the Skull Kid. MOST STRESSFUL IN-GAME FIVE MINUTES EVUUUR.

It's cutscenes galore after getting to the top where Tael gives Link and Tatl information about what they have to do in order to stop Skull Kid's apocalyptic plans. But the trouble doesn't end there because the moon was still on its crash course. After a short skirmish between the fairies and the Imp Link retrieves the Ocarina of Time, took the liberty of reminiscing about Princess Zelda and played the Song of Time rewinding time back to the Dawn of the First Day.
Gosh those three days were stimulating.

Alright, let me stop here. Part 2 should come out in the weekend (not like anyone is actually interested) but it's not really that long, but hey at least it's about a dungeon.
Gotta go.
