Here's a question I asked myself one morning after taking a sip from a heavily sugar destroyed coffee I made: Why am I so unproductive when I have plenty of things to do, and I have all the time to do them?
That question came back to me because it's happening to me again, I'm on vacation, you see. Hooray right? Well, not really. My academic death parade as a junior ended last week. With the six courses I had enrolled at the start of the semester I managed to pass with bleeding colors five of them, and I finally got my first failing grade with that sixth course (I said that as if I was expecting to fail, didn't I?). Normally I'd be jumping out of fifth floor windows due to extreme happiness by now but I'm actually more tense than during hell week. If I get my act together this is likely my last summer vacation as a student. Next year I shouldn't be allowed to use my ID for student discounts anymore...no more sweet 20% discounts, damn.
Anyway, I can't go full blown vacation mode because I only have less than two weeks to relax by not actually relaxing. Normally it'd take me two months to go full blown, just before the start of classes, ha!
I'm taking our degree's practicum course this mid-semester that means two months vacation becomes only two weeks then it's back to the desk of shattered dreams and all-nighters. With the eight days I've spent trying to master safe alchemy of conjuring sleep out of a 24-hour day with only three hours left I joined the family on a trip to Potipot Island to reenact Chuck Noland's after he was cast away. I was Wilson. A very big Wilson.
The island is five minutes away on speedboat from Potipot Gateway Resort. There are other entry points to the island, it just so happens that I woke up with my parents already negotiating with at the reception.
We spent eight hours on the island cooking ourselves in the heat of the bright star hanging on the reflected sea above. Potipot Island is known as the "Poor Man's Boracay". I've never been to Boracay so I can't make comparisons or support on why the island is called as such. The island does sport the whitest sands that I've seen to date.
Our visit to the island was at an odd time of the year. At June we'd all be expecting the little kids to be back at school and the adults to be busy planning the next family vacation so it was no surprise that the island felt lonelier that it should. When we got to the island the overall ambiance felt like what you get when you flee to an isolated island free from any zombie from the mainland. It was quiet even with the five or six other groups of people who were already in the island.
I haven't progressed much with my Zeldathon. The last time I played Majora's Mask was around two months ago. Right now I'm focusing on Persona Q and *drum roll* SHOVEL KNIGHT!!! That game makes me teary eyed with epic nostalgia on the side. It emulates a lot of beloved NES titles from Mega Man to DuckTales, but right at the very beginning playing Shovel Knight reminded me of Castlevania. It took me a while with my noob internet connection to download the 100+ mb indie title.
I'm still at a loss about the pricing of the e-shop card. Two 10-dollar cards are cheaper than one 20-dollar card. I ended up collecting three 10-dollar cards now, one of them including a free AR card. Oh, well. Aside from Shovel Knight, the other digital games I have on the system are Gunman Clive, Zelda: Oracle of Seasons, Zelda: Link's Awakening, and Pushmo. Sigh, look at all those Zelda games I have but haven't played yet. I still have about 11 dollars credit, I also have 450 coins to redeem at the dying Nintendo Club. Guess I'll go for the retro now.
Gotta go!
Oh yeah, the title has no connection to the post, really. Unless some serious folks out there create conspiracy theories about my blog, that would be pretty neat and eerie at the same time. I was just reminded of Valkyrie Profile Lenneth. How I loved shouting Nibelung Valesti all those years ago.

I kinda dig Shovel Knight for the Smash roster now |

I think I can pass this off as one half of Salar de Uyuni |

I actually only took this shot to see the time stamp. I didn't even know where I pointed the camera |
